Yesterday this building held a competition about what to do when there is a fire. I was the first one who raised hand and answered the question correctly. Hard to believe that prize was a big fire extinguishers Oh, at least it was something useful and I had never expected this would be the prize

Actually that sounds pretty good. It is important for people to know about how to be safe. I know that it is useful to have a fire extinguisher. I have two small ones.

You are right. But as to be a prize, it seems to be a little weird

In my country, if you have a fire extinguisher you can end up paying less on your homeowners' insurance.

It's a really cool prize, though very practical. Also, thanks for that tip about the discount on the home owner's insurance just for having the fire extinguisher. I didn't know that. Will keep that in mind for the time when I own a house.

That's a nice prize you have there. Extinguishing fire is not its only purpose, y'know. You can also smack it to the heads of robbers robbing you in the middle of the night. Or you can blast your hot soup with it to lessen the heat. Lol

That is certainly a wonderful price. People often take those things for granted considering that we only need it when there is a fire. But when the moment comes and we do not have such, then it is at that time that we realize the importance of such. My congratulations to you!

I agree with you--even though it is a very useful prize, one worth some money, it is a little weird. Maybe if they had given something with it, like a gift certificate or holidays desserts or something more traditional, it wouldn't seem as weird. But it makes a good story!

Hello youless. Congratulations on winning the prize for your good knowledge about the competition. A couple of years ago our school invited someone who was professional to give a lecture on it. I found it very useful and helpful for us to learn something so useful from him. So in case of fire we can deal with it in the right way to save our lives. You deserver the prize for your clever answer. I am sure that all the others present must have learned a lot from you. Keep it up, youless.

That is something good to have around. Of course if it is really big it is probably too big to fit in the kitchen. But having a fire extinguisher around the house is a goo thing. Our oven caught on fire once and it was amazing how fast the flames grew, thank goodness we had a fire extinguisher that day or we probably would not have had a house left.

I find such competitions actually very good and educating. People must be taught how to act in critical situations. It helps to reduce casualties and injuries in case accidents happen. I also think that the prize you received is a very useful and necessary thing.

That is really a good one since the prize is related to the question asked. Will they give you the house if their question related to house?

Since you mare talking about fire safety. I guess all the possible prizes is also related to fire. hehehe e.g. fire extinguisher, fire helmet, and a lot more. Don't worry youless you can used that in terms of emergency crisis. And the worth of your price is really expensive you know.

Congrats on knowing the right answer. Congrats on the fire extinguisher too. I'm not even sure we have one in this house, but I would assume we do....now you will have me checking around tomorrow. Marsha

Tee hee, what a unique prize! XD But it is important to have one of those kicking around in our house/flat, we bought one a few years ago, a small one, and it sits on top of our stove where the fuses are. Watch that the little dial keeps on the green, that means it's full, because even if you don't use it, it'll still lose its pressure and be ineffective in case of emergency. But that only happens after 5-10 years. (they say you should replace your extinguishers every 5-10 years anyway)

Usually the fire extinguisher's valid time lasts about 5 years.
