India has launched its Census, 2011 program. It will be the biggest census attempted in the history of mankind. It will enumerate the country's 1.2 billion population and classify them. All Indians aged over 15 years will get a NPR (National Population Register) index. With this India will become the first democratic country in the world with its whole population fingerprinted. In the last census record the place I originally came from is excluded. If you at the footnote, it's mentioned that region sub-division is excluded. Well, the Govt of Manipur did it so that the minority will be left out of the number game. If the minority is left out of the picture the majority can continue to run the show. After all funding and constituency for election are based on population. Even in this census Govt of Manipur is cutting off so many names. Govt is India is not taking action with Govt of Manipur either because the majority community who occupies the power refuses have influenced the centre govt too. In Manipur politics is 95% based on ethnic politics; political ideology hardly matters! The plight of the Nagas in Manipur is pathetic! The Gorkhas (of Darjeeling area) in West Bengal and the Nagas of Manipur, therefore, I feel deserve separate Union Territory. Or else the majority will continue to exploit them by using political power which only they have.

You have mentioned an important issue here. It is very unfortunate that things like this is happening. Corruption is present in every stages of our administration. They take decisions not for public welfare just for their political gain. This is a very serious issue.

yes that is awesome..but it will be very happy to have the citizenship card in our hand.now i am looking forward to have that card on my hand.it takes a lot of effort to fingerprint the 1.2 billion people.

Fingerprinting the entire population would be seen as a breach of civil libertys in the UK. Here, the police are allowed to take fingerprints and DNA samples if someone is arrested, but they are no allowed to retain them if the preson is not subsequently convicted.

Britain is holding it's census in 2011 as well but with a mere 60+ millions on this rather small island, it'll not be as much as a logistical nightmare that counting 1.2 billion is likely to be - especially as a lot of them probably dont want to be counted anyway. They probably figure that it's just the governments way of finding out who they are and where they are so that they can be taxed more efficently!
