This is inspired by another discussion, but is it good to compare ourselves with each other, ever? I guess, in some ways it can help benefit us by trying to beat the other person and becoming better, but is it really healthy? In the end, we are all our own person and we'll never really be like the other and our standards might be different too.

You are so right about this. I think it's ok to have role models but we are our own people. Our lives, our beliefs, our paths will be very different and sometimes if we ever did achieve being like someone that we wanted to be like...it would be very different than what we thought it would be like. Then what?

In a way comparing can improve our lives but it takes on what you choose to compare. For example if you see a homeless person, it might make you thank your lucky stars and make you more appreciative of your life.

Lore I see this phrase a bit differently, I find that if I utilize the frame of mindset to think the Grass is greener to me it means for me to see things in a different light. Maybe I am strange that way, but I have so learned that positive thinking after negative affects do help me on a personal level. It may not resolve my issues but it certainly helps me to relax a bit and think a bit more steady as opposed to stressing over something that perhaps I cannot control. At any rate, I try never to compete with others to simply get ahead, I try to compete with my own goals to find ways to make them better.
