Of course, they're related. We could only know so much but we have to know stuff. With the increasing modern technology we have to learn more than what we've learned at school. Although knowing too much requires brain activity, understatement, and our individual brain capacity, although differs, has their own limits. They are related a whole lot if you ask me.

I actually don't really think that the degree of mental tension that we experience in our lives has to do with the amount of knowledge that we have. Instead, I tend to think that as we grow older we have more mental tension because there are more things that we have to deal with in our lives. As we have more responsibilites in our lives, I tend to think that then we have more mental tension as a direct result of those things in our lives.

I don't think it is necessarily knowledge that is the stresser but the responsibilities and more technology that adds on the stress. For me stress comes from responsibilities and from outside input. I have bad panic attacks from these stressers. Lack of them and I do pretty well. Anxieties about unknown situations coming up and crowds really do it for me.

I think we make much more of our stress than it is worth. Man's mind has always stressed. Just stop and think about it, how much more stress can a human have then worry about feeding his family, staying alive and making a safe home? Wasn't this the very things the cave man faced? Personally I would much rather deal with today's stresses. At least most of the time I am not in fear of being eaten. Though my life is on the line in today's traffic for sure.

I think that being intelligent does put a stress on the brain. I think that is mostly what mental breakdowns are about. People just can't cope with always having their brain working in overload and taking care of daily stuff. I have yet to meet a stupid person that has a mental disorder, they are all smart people. Really.
