I do not know about you but I am fortunate to escape the latest debacle on Hotmail where quite a number of Hotmail users have claimed that their emails have been deleted from their accounts. I am not sure if the frantic ditches of effort from MSN could help affected members recover their emails but I just have my doubts. From this incident, I just wonder if this is the road to the demise of emails to social networking sites. Also, further down my thoughts is loosing vital data with the latest rave about Cloud computing. I am sorry but I just have my grave concerns and reservations. What a bad news! Hotmail is my major email account. If there is a glitch for it, it will drive me crazy. Fortunately so far it seems that my Hotmail account still works fine. But now I have to keep alert since I read your post. Lately Hotmail has a news and they no longer provide the space and therefore today I moved it to Sina blog. I love China

youless, This is really bad news indeed! But, I feel that this problem has indeed affected an unconfirmed majority where till today Microsoft has not revealed how many and who have been affected. Actually, this incident should teach and make us wary that no one or rather provider is safe including Sina. All it takes is a concentrated and concerted attack. However, I believe using email clients like Outlook or Thunderbird could circumvent this problem especially when the emails would have been stored in our computers. Take care and have a nice day.

I have not used hotmail in years! I never had a reason to, I don't have friends on there.. I have an e-mail account through my service provider, and I also have e-mail accounts on Yahoo and Gmail which I never use.

katsmeow1213, I am glad that you are not caught in this debacle. However, just the opposite, I really do not use the email account from my service provider because I do not want to be tied down. So, other than my own office email account, my other email is Yahoo and Hotmail where I can access everywhere and will not need to change my address when I change my service provider. After this incident, I am just concern about the latest cloud computing where users are dependent on web platform providers.
