The Republicans have added to their rules package that committees should post text of legislation 24 hours before meeting.
As of right now, 90% of votes in committees are NOT available for public view. The new rules will require all are posted within 48 hours.
Also, where ever possible, meeting will be recorded.

I believe these actions are a step in the right direction for transparency. We can see what our civil servants are up to, how they come around to decisions, who is allowed to speak etc.
What do you think? Do you think this is a good start? where to go from here? Bad idea? Do you think it will slow down committees and hamper business?

Hiya laglen,
Anything that makes for transparency in any Public thing is good step in the right direction. We never really know who votes for what, why or who either.
No explanation is ever given as to what came about or went about. They just quickly put on a Graph and then quickly whip it off again as fast as they can.
So are our lot over here transparent I jolly well hope that they are because now a lot of dirty washing of theirs is now coming up to be washed.
Dirty Washing (dealings) on a small scale though.
So I hope that they will be more transparent all over the World and not make such a mystery out of everything they say and do. Here“s to that a Toast anyone?

Hiya laglen,
Thanks I would really in all sincerity TOAST to that in Capital letters. So right now I am toasting with you that they all come up transparent and with no "hidden" clauses that they usually put in small letters somewhere in their Documents or whatever. What I call "the small Print".
I hope our Prime Minister does the same too as up to now he changes his mind every other Day of the Week. Talk about one big headache.
About the Toast that is very sincere hugs. To and your Family.xxx

These are all steps in the right direction, but I won't believe it until I see it. And why these rules are just now being put in place is beyond me! Having worked for the Federal Government for over 30 years, there's no way I would have been allowed to develop and implement policy, procedures, etc. without TOTAL coordination, communication, cooperation, etc. Every draft had to be reviewed/commented on...and why Congress doesn't think that's necessary shows just how arrogant this organization has become.
I voted Repub this year and have the highest expectations for them...and the Dems that remain. I also have little patience for screwing around...
