Hello friends, i'm going to ask something simple ...
How do you deal with nicknames who are hard for remembering?
Lately i get really confused around, when i want to rewrite some nickname, because i respond to the discussions of the person. I make mistakes sometimes and if i made it with your nickname time ago i apologize, just some of the nicks are too far from the usual nicknames i've heard or i know.
I've seen some people using short names, like part of the whole nickname, so i'm thinking now is it good for the short nicknames, that they are short and easy for remembering?
Usually i work with avatars, that's how i recognize members around.

Suggar, oh Suggar, Suggar. You are my candy girl
is what comes to my mind each time I see your ID user name.
As for me people call just abut anything that comes to mind HWG, hardworking, gurl, really for me it does not make a difference. Believe me I have been called worse.
I will only abbreviate if I have already interacted with members as you just never know some get offended.
Me never, call it like you see it. Reasoning behind my ID name is that it speaks for exactly who I am.

Hi Suggar,
With over 222000 users, finding and identifying names is always going to be tough. I would recommend you do some course in customer sales where they train you the tricks.
Ok, seriously speaking, When in doubt, check out your friends list and if that is tedious (you may have a long long list) check out the profile of the person. That should ease thing and once you stay regular, you wont confuse

mysd and I interacted for so long that I think we just assumed we were on friend list for a long time before we actually were

I added you for friend, just while ago realized that you are not in my friend list.
My friend list is full with people with low number of posts, i don't know why they add me, i can't follow their activity all the time, even if i want it, i don't have enough time for here.
Also most of them don't move up, which means they are not active at all...

I think that the best way for us here to make friends is if we meet each other often. I was really surprised when i saw that i'm not friend with Sid, so added him, but strange is how we meet in every discussion with him
Same with you ... interacting is the best way for us to follow and then to remember the nicknames.

Some of my Lotter friends from afar have long usernames which for me are impossible to remember, so I remember only the first part or I abbreviate it and use just some of the main letters. They know I do that and so far none of them have scolded me.
I have a problem when a user cancels their account and starts again. Their new username rarely enters into my brain cells and I stick to calling them with their old name - and anand can confirm that
I also recognise avatars, and some come back with the same one maybe thinking that no-one will remember them

Hmmm, possible, possible .... about the avatars
About the nicknames, i got that situation soon ago, one guy posted one response in my discussion and when i was trying to write it right, i did it wrong
I usually don't know what the nicknames mean, but it will be really great if i know what meaning their owners put when they picked the nickname. For me it's because i like drinking my coffee with sugar.

There was me thinking it is because you are sweet! Well I prefer to stick with what I thought!
Did you realise that you can copy/paste their username when using it in your comment/response? I do that when it is a long one or a user that I am not yet familiar with.

hi suggar you sort of lost me with the new planets as what does '
that have to do with user names. I just copy the whole user
name down like hi suggar then go on from there as I too forget
these different odd names then too with your discussion up
above my box here how can I forget your name? do not you also have the discussion just above your response box? so there it is so you can check as you write. oh if you go by avatars you willnot be able to
remember me by my avatar as I change it a lot. lol lol. lol.

Sometimes you don't need a nickname if the entire name itself is easy to recall. But mostly some prefer to have shorter nicks and as much as possible with one or two syllable/s only. But here in mylot I don't think we have chosen a username to the purpose of others remembering them. When I joined this site it never crossed my mind such thought.

Hello Lance, i think that your nickname is great for remembering or writing, just because it's short
The alphabets are easy for spelling.
I didn't choose my name to be short too, because realized soon that it's better to be short, because people don't have to be worried when they write it.
When i started to make mistakes, i also started to use "friend" much more than user names, it's easier and doesn't need concentration

For avatars here, I think the only way to make nicknames is to shorten their names. If the first part of their user name forms part of a word, then that's a good nickname to be had. And if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, then you're bound to remember it!

No, actually, that's the first time i'm realizing that i can do it. Since i made 500 posts i have never used the copy-paste option ... but that's a good reason to start doing it
Checked, done!
It was red, but that looks more like painting with similar colors, but another picture.
