I am planning to work abroad in order for me to earn greener pasteure. I have never been travelled outside my country. What are the things to remember when one goes to a foreign land? Is it difficult to be a foreigner?

First, may I ask where are you going? Which country will you be working? What type of work are you doing?
I have been traveling in different countries both work and leisure, with particular countries, there are particular points to bear and mind and follow. Generally, I would suggest that get the contact details of the embassy in case you would be needing some assistance with consular matters like passport renewals, OWWA registration, you know, those stuff.....you also need to know how to go about the city, research the transportation system, bus itineraries and stations coz definitely you would like to go around the place during your off days.....if you are going in first world countries, you won't have much diffuculty to adjust in the culture of the people but if you will go to Muslim countries, that's a different story, you need to be very careful and be aware of their customs, laws, practices and behavior in public. I would be able to help you better if I know your exact destination.

I am envious of you because you have been travelling a lot.. I wish that soemeday I could travel to different countries like you.. Perhaps I need to save a lot of money for that. Anyway, I am planning to go to either New Zealand or Australia.. Is these countries safe to work and live in? What are the drawbacks in these areas?

I haven't been to these countries yet and they're not even included in my wish list. Generally, what I can advise you is to research on their labor law, immigration laws, culture and mentality of these people. I don't have much encounter with "kiwis", the people of new zealand, but there are some with australians. I have no idea as well on their economy or unemployment situation. I think you won't have much difficulty in adjusting since Filipinos are exposed to western culture. To sum it up, still much much better for you to migrate or work abroad as our country is hopeless, there's no future for you there, get out!

You have a point. Employees in the Philippines are not well compensated compared to other countries. Soon I will work abroad when my financial resources are enough for the expenses. Thank you for your advice..

In my life so far I have worked abroad a few times. I have worked in Finland as a children's nanny. I have had a working holiday visa for Australia. When I was there on that I worked as a children's nanny, a factory assistant and a charity worker. It is necessary to get a work visa put inside the passport. It is sensible to get travel insurance to cover your time working overseas. It is wise to take a phrase book if it is country where a foreign language is spoken. It isn't difficult to be a foreigner in a country somewhere different. I really worked working and living overseas.

Was there any instance that someone made scams on you while you were staying in those countries?.. If yes, may I know how you dealt with it?..
