No matter which side you fall on, I think we can all agree that the appointment process in the Senate has gotten ridiculous. Most times when government is held up, I believe it is a good thing. But in all fairness, the President does need some of his advisers. His predecessors had theirs.
It may be a matter that the person being appointed is not qualified, appropriate or in the best interest of the country.
What should be done to help? There are some in the Senate that hold up appointments for other political reasons. I think this should stop.
What is your opinion? Do you have any ideas to fix the process?
Reid and McConnell are looking for ways to change it.

Another point to made is that there are currently more than 90 Judicial vacancies in the country that need to be filled.

I think the Committees need to do their vetting of each appointment and report. The reports need to be distributed to all of the Senate and the public. Then I think the Senate, whoever is in power, needs to bring the appointment to the floor for an up or down vote. No more of the b.s. that now goes on. This b.s. has been going on for so long that seats/offices have been unfilled for years and that's wrong... OR, if the seat/position/office has been unfilled and this has gone on for years...maybe we need to audit the position? Do we really need it? For this particular President, he has WAY TOO MANY czars/advisors/etc. I wonder what the heck his Department Heads are doing? (Energy, Education, Interior, etc.)
I agree the process needs to be fixed. But I also think we need to take a hard look at the Departments that have sprung up, administration after administration. Some need to be dismantled PERIOD.
You want to cut spending? Then look at whole departments. Where there's a need for a department, then look deeper in to the organization for duplication, waste, etc. I'd go on, but I'm way past my nap time.

I agree a full audit of all departments and agencies. That would cut spending quite a bit. Two years ago, our county did this looking for redundant programs. We made HUGE cuts. Our county is very well off financially. We saw the down turn on the economy coming and planned for it.

Hooray for your county officials. What a smart thing to do. All government agencies need to be doing a scrub right now. There's million/billions being spent at all levels on redundant programs. It's time to clean house (did I have to put it that way?)

It certainly has gotten ridiculous and I'd say that no matter which party the President happened to belong to. What makes it even more ridiculous is how one Senator can block an appointment and they can do it anonymously!
Even Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts has publicly stated it's time for the Senate to do their job and confirm these judicial appointments.
