What happened to Limewire?

I download most of the time using Limewire before and for the past few months, I can't access it. Why? What really happened? Was the site banned from distributing files and applications free to people? Or they have violated a law in a country or state? I have checked this site and this is what I've read: "The legal battles plaguing the LimeWire P2P service finally took their toll Tuesday when Lime Wire announced that it has blocked the LimeWire service from the Gnutella peer-to-peer network. Lime Wire was ordered by the court to disable the searching, downloading, uploading, file trading and/or file distribution functionality, and/or all functionality of LimeWire's P2P file-sharing software. Visitors to the site are now met with a legal notice that notifies them of the shutdown." http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2371590,00.asp I am so late with everything that's happening around me... Anyway I hope the alternatives that are written in that site are good and won't bring a lot of viruses not like Limewire documents did to my old laptop I don't download songs anymore since I'm fond of listening to music over the radio now than in an mp3. What about you guys? Have you tried the other sites to download any files lately?

I've been downloading media files online with the use of Internet Download Manager. Now, I have the ability to download almost all stuff especially media files online.

I'm trying that too right now and so far I've downloaded a lot of music and videos especially my faves. I only wish that in the future there won't be a problem anymore with this kind of downloadable stuff.

Three months ago (or more) Limewire published the following notice: "LEGAL NOTICE THIS IS AN OFFICIAL NOTICE THAT LIMEWIRE IS UNDER A COURT-ORDERED INJUNCTION TO STOP DISTRIBUTING AND SUPPORTING ITS FILE-SHARING SOFTWARE. DOWNLOADING OR SHARING COPYRIGHTED CONTENT WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION IS ILLEGAL."

If you download illegally distributed content, you ALWAYS risk getting malware with it.

Nope I haven't really downloaded many songs since Limewires closure which is quite a while back now. I now stick to youtube or listen to the radio myself mainly youtube though.
