Sometimes We Have To Compromise, Sometimes We Don't

A friend once told me that we can't save everything we have, we have to give some up in order to make room for new, important ones. Just recently, we bought a new couch for the living room. The couch we've had for about 16 years had been banged up already and everytime there are guests coming it's embarrassing to invite them to sit on it. It had been our couch since we were still living in my hometown and I've gotta admit, certain stuff that I had been using for years gives me this attachment to it, and this couch is a good example. I used to curl up on it while playing video games or watching tv. I also used to take a nap there on a boring Sunday afternoon. I even used to jump on it just for fun. Now the couch will be replaced my a new one. At first, my brother was planning to tear it to pieces then throw it out. Then I thought, Hey, why not just place it outside as a passersby bench? It'd be cool to have a bench outside especially if you're gonna smoke or something, you can't smoke inside. Then we agreed upon it. I just couldn't let go of the couch not because we can still use it but because of the memories it brings back. How about you? Have you had anything you feel you had to give up but you didn't because of it's sentimental value?

I do not think we should ever give up something dear, close, just because "no longer wear."It appears, however, at a time, feeling like one of things where they also found the place you always made you feel like you want to replace it with something better, more current, more useful, more handsome ...During life you get, often without you, you have to change habits, changes occur to the new realities imposed ...So also with objects of all kinds, they do not want to quit, you are looking for another place, if you're lucky you can find for a while, but eventually end up in a drawer in a box, disappear from sight to forget their existence ...Not necessarily sad, life is moving. All the best!

This reminds me of Toy Story 3.
The toys didn't wanna be forgotten that's why they try their best to be with Andy.

Hi frontvisions,
Of the many things that I saved even in transit from shifting my towns of residence, the dearest is a table clock - an older generation thing that has broken down in 1995 and I have still preserved it as a treasure. It is about45 years old and was purchased by my late grandfather when he finally settled in this state (Orissa). I grew up learning my understanding of time on this watch, my study, timings everything were based on its accuracy. Though it is analog and run on winding methods, it was my duty to wind it, put the morning wake up alarm... all through my childhood, my teens and even my early 20s. Its spring is broken and not it is beyond repairs but I still have it on my table - a sweet memory of my early days. And I still take it with me when I go outside my city just in case I find anyone who can repair it...

That is some old school watch you got there. I've heard of a watch with winding mechanisms before but I haven't held one myself. You're gonna have a hard time trying to find someone to fix that, though.

Yes dear... I have almost completed my search at my state and there is no one who can fix it. But am hopeful that in bigger towns there may be some guys who can do this as there would be some people in those metros who would have antique clocks... so I keep my fingers crossed and hope that I do find someone.

Yeah, you should definitely value those things. How about the BMW?
