Okay, how many of you are crossing your fingers hoping your electricity does not go out? I can hear the winter storm outside right now. My dad wanted me to stay at their house, but I'm more comfortable at my apartment. Plus, my check comes tomorrow and I have to deposit it before I pay the rent. So I'd have to be over here tomorrow anyway to get the check. We've been told not to go anywhere for at least 24 hours. I'm sure a lot of states have been issuing that warning. I went to Walmart today to stock up, and it looks like the rest of Oklahoma did the same thing!
So far, what is it like right now where you are? Countries besides America, what is your biggest weather related issue right now? Any special things done to prepare? I've got a nice battery powered light if my electricity goes out, but with no heater, I think I would be using my Snuggie a lot.
I'm just going to assume the power will not go out, and keep positive.

I woke up this morning and looked out my "patio" sliding door. About an inch of snow has come INSIDE my apartment. The door is closed, but there is enough of a gap that some snow has come in. But I'm very blessed. It looks really bad outside, but the power here is on, and that snow that got inside the door is not a big deal at all.

Even here in southcentral New Mexico we were told to prepare for "snow". So, I ordered propane last weekend. And yesterday, I took my Mom grocery shopping. I was surprised at how many people were really heeding warnings and were shopping. Of course, I've only seen about 10 snowflakes so far, but I'm prepared to stay indoors the next couple of days. I even cancelled golf... I seriously doubt we'll lose power. I heard you guys were looking at a couple of feet of snow. If we get a 1/2 inch, I'll be surprised.

Where I am in Oklahoma we've got a foot of snow. Where my sister is in Oklahoma has two feet of snow. I do not envy her. Today is her birthday, but because they knew about the storm warning, they celebrated yesterday and went out, shopped, and got a cake.

I just sent the dogs out and the ground was white. I think we've got a hundreth of an inch, just enough to get the dogs' feet wet to put paw prints on the kitchen floor. I don't envy you guys. I use to live in South Dakota. I know snow; I'm not crazy about it, especially now that I don't ski anymore. Keep warm...

Well, here in Minnsota we just got another 6 inches in my area. We are well over average for the year and still feb March, and early April for snow yet. 6 inches to us here in MN isn't anything really. It's windy, snowing lightly and about 8 below zero right now. (3:50 a.m.) Now I have yet to see Minnesotans do the stocking up ordeal due to a snowstorm. We shop at Sams Club, so we always have a lot of food and basics needed for survival. As far as electric going out, well, I am sure my daughter would help out if needed afetr a day or so due to my dad. Just for icks I added a photo of one of the huge icicles hanging from my roof. This one is about 3 feet long. I love it. Dang it. 4 tries and it would not load. Oh well.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Well I always have a good supply of candles and flashlights just in case. I can't tell you how fed up I am with all this snow we've been getting. I don't mind cold weather but it seems we just barely get ourselves dug out from a snowstorm when another one hits...in fact it's supposed to start snowing again very late tonight, all day tomorrow and maybe more on Wednesday. I did go out yesterday and tried to stock up on some stuff, but couldn't buy everything since I too have to wait for my SSI check--btw...don't you get yours direct deposited? As far as other countries...well at least we haven't been getting the horrible floods they had in Australia and I know quite a number of Aussies

Just started snowing here this morning. We won't be warned not to go out. We get a lot of winter advisories, and they say don't leave the house is you don't have to, but we've never been under a state of emergency due to the snow. We're sort of used to it. I will be going out to grocery shop as soon as the kids are off to school, then I'll be going to work tonight.

The last time we had a state of emergency due to snow was in 2007. I remember that well! My power was out for five days. The ice was so thick it brought down big trees. We've only got a foot of snow right now. But I've got an inch inside my "patio" door. Stupid gap!

We got a couple inches this morning and will be getting up to 10 more inches by tomorrow. It seems to have stopped for now though thankfully.

I have a hand cranked flashlight in my bedside table. I have a lot of food, and plenty of candles. I know they are opening some buildings as shelters. I certainly hope that you do not lose power or you and your doggie will be cuddling a lot. It is probably about the same here as there.

I left Sherlock at my parent's house tonight. Since they have gas, they can at least open their oven for heat if everything else loses power. I didn't know long I'd be stuck here tomorrow, and I wanted him to be able to go out and do his "business". My dad didn't mind keeping him, and my mom was okay with it too. I'm glad I don't have to worry about him getting cold.

We had another 8 inches yesterday and today the wind came up and it got cold...more snow is in the forecast for the later part of the week but I am glad we aren't getting the ice! I heard some of the towns in Oklahoma have a ton of snow already! Hope you keep your lights etc!

Hi Pam,
Here in Mid Missouri we are just now getting the snow. As I set here and type I look out the window and ca barely see the neighbors house across the street, it's snowing and blowing so hard. This is the first time I can ever remember the weather service putting us under a Blizzard warning and I can remember 60 + winters.
It started yesterday with freezing rain and sleet. Stopped about noon but thinking it was to continue we went to the store and stocked up on food and things. I hope the power stays on as our home is all electric. We will have to cook on the grill outside if power goes off.
I hope that the snow is all we get from this storm. If so we should be ok on the power staying on.

I hope that yo have an old fashioned rubber hot water bottle too. That would be my priority if power goes as they stay warm for hours. far better than a heating pad. I pray that you and everyone else will survive this okay. Wear lots of layers. Now i am going to worry about you. Our threat is during the hurricane season - foever checking when a hurricane develops to see if it is heading our way. Keep warm and safe. I hope that you do not have electric stove. if you do fill up Thermos' with hot water for drinks. Please take care and keep safe! Going to prayer meeting tonight and e will pray for you

Me! It is snowing like crazy here and it is supposed to turn into rain tomorrow so the snow will become very heavy on the wife and stuff then my power might go out... I'm really hoping it won't happen because I will lose all the entertainment during the day and scary dark at night...

We went through a great nightmare the entire time as not only did we loose power we were also out of internet for 9 full days. I do online networking assignments for which I lost several jobs.
No matter how positive I was the long 9 days were very difficult to deal with, but thankfully we are all okay and well now to start over searching for assignments.

Oh, I am always positive where the weather is concerned, I know where my help comes from..
But you are right, we also need to be wise and be prepared..I knew an ice storm was coming in last night, so I had my husband pick up some groceries and because we love camping, we have all kinds of things if our electric goes out. We have flashlights to see and a Coleman stove to cook on..The only problem I'd have if I lost electric, was I couldn't do my math..Oh well...

Hi my sweet 'lil sis! How are you hon? I am waiting for the same
mess to arrive in a few hours from now myself! We are totally
sick of this weather as so many of us are here in the US! We
were supposed to get this snow/ice storm starting tomorrow night,
but apparently "Mother Nature" is in a big hurry to start it
earlier and keep it going until into Wednesday night. I haven't
been out of the apartment myself in weeks. I am so scared of
falling on the ice and the snow is still piled up here in NY that
I haven't even gone to the grocery store. If it weren't for my
Lonnie going to get cat food my poor babies would have starved!
I can't take it anymore! And I know that I need to get the flashlights
ready and the radio filled with batteries just in case and I haven't
done any of it yet. I am hoping that I can do it tomorrow! I know I
should go searching for a radio that takes batteries now instead of
waiting, but I keep hoping that we won't lose power because that will
really be a nightmare! Please take care of yourself and be safe.
Sending you lots of love and warm hugs, your Big Sis in NY
