The website itself has been nominated by Norwegian politician for promoting freedom of speech and transparency in government. Makes sense. Do you think Wikileaks should be considered? http://www.politicsdaily.com/2011/02/02/wikileaks-nominated-for-nobel-peace-prize/

Yeah it makes sense and I can see where they are coming from I think if Obama can get one then their is no reason that a media Organization that is not afraid to put the information and knowledge to the people is a very good thing because we can turn that knowledge into power to in our case in the USA to bring our government closer to the moral high ground that it should be on. I should say Moral and Ethical High Ground.

I agree, governments may not like it, but it certainly does get the information out.

Makes perfect sense. The few remaining folks with common sense are the odd ones of the world. As a minority, we should come to expect this. They're our betters, after all. They know things! They have ways!

This is wonderful! Sites like this will show governments all over the world that in this day and age of instant communication, nothing can be kept secret, and they can't oppress us like they could in the past. The question would be who would actually hold the prize, or would it be in a museum somewhere?

Maybe Assange would receive it?

I'm not surprised in the slightest. Making the US look bad is a big criteria for that award whether it's bashing a sitting president, or endangering the lives of our troops, if it goes against the US, it deserves a peace prize.

At his point, well yes. Someone, somewhere has to promote some form of truth. Yes, it certainly makes sense, since we remain blinded by lies and deceit.

After giving one to Al Gore for global warming, and to Obama for becoming president (because he sure hadn't done anything when he got the "award"), and numerous others that make me scratch my head, why not? Because of the recent and not so recent (Carter) nominations, I've decided the Nobel Peace Prize is b.s. The people on the nominating committee really need to find another job; the "Prize" is a joke. If I look back at other nominations and really considered them, I doubt I'd come up with a different conclusion.

I agree, and they do (wikileaks) are practicing freedom of speech as well as transparency. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea.
