Try to fix a tv

and you best pray because its nearly impossible nowadays to even think of trying to fix anything. Dad's tv wasnt working too well. Its not an old tv, he had it for only 6 yrs but lately it wouldnt turn on, or the picture wasnt quite right. I tried to fix the focus and the color and the contrast but to no avail. I told him he needed to buy a new one. He can afford it, so why not just buy a new one. He said he would wait. Well he turned around and called my brother. My brother was there yesterday and he too tried to fix it but it wasnt working. So he told dad he should buy a new one and dad said sure, why dont we go to the store together and you can help me pick one.........duh!!! Why couldnt I take him to the store to buy a new one? I guess dad is sexist and he thinks that my brother being a MAN will be able to help him pick a tv much better than I, a woman could!! Im not angry, I find this funny. Do you think men are better equipped when it comes to buy electronics?

He he he he L.O.L. Sounds just like my dad!! He thinks women don't know how to fix things or pick shall we say the right quality of things? Yeah right, we know and if we don't know there is always a smart sales person who does know. R.O.F.L. I;m sorry I don't mean to laugh but it reminds me so much of my dad!! I don't think men are better equipped when it comes to electronics or anything at that matter, they just think us women don't get it and we do!!! L.O.L. Good luck with getting your dad a new t.v. Maybe you can be the one who gets it!! Have a good one!!

Dont worry, I can take a joke lol. Well he has his new tv already, he went out with my brother, they went for a bite at the restaurant, then went to buy the new tv. Dad says he's happy and to be honest, thats all that matters. Im the one to buy him new wireless phones or stuff he needs for his bedroom. (bedsheets n pyjamas) So I guess he thinks that I have my specialty and my brother has his. My other brother is in charge of getting him new razors or tickets to hockey games lol. Thanks!!

If you are handy at electronics, it might be something simple for you to repair what is ailing to a television set. If this not your expertise, it might be a wiser decision to replace the tv.

I don't think your dad is sexist, but that he wanted several advices to decide himself to buy a new tv. If you had been the second to tell him after your brother that he needed a new tv, he would have probably go to the store with you. And for consumer electronics, girls are often less interested than boys, but some girls are real geeks.

I dont think he is either, I was joking. Im not bad with electronics. I do my research before I need to buy something...actually hubby and I both do our homeworks first. Well he's happy with his new tv and thats all that matters! Thank you!

i wouldn't say men are more equipped. i'd say "more inclined". probably your dad, being the man he is, just would've heed an advice coming from someone in his own class. he could've heard your opinion, but just wanted to verify from someone "more inclined". at least, that's what he thinks so.

I know what you mean but in fact, my brother is in a way better equipped since he worked for Hitashi a while back and he can usually fix a tv IF its "fixable" lol. Thats probably why dad took him to buy a tv.....that and the fact that I always have dad buying expensive stuff....he says I cost him too much!! Thank you !!
