ChipesterKhan chronicles - part 1 - Introduction to ChipesterKhan

As the pressures of the corporate life continue to weigh down on me I find myself writing in my journal more and more. I've begun to realize that now would be a good time to start my "book" which I've always thought I'd be writing since I was 8. I was around that age when my Uncle Larry asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up. I told him I wanted to be a book writer. Not an author. A book writer. Haha back then I didn't know what an author was. But I wanted to do what those people did. Books were magical objects for me. They took me places no one else could. I was 3 when I learned to read. It was at that age when I made my first "book" too. Complete with drawings. I remember it was about a pig. My grandma has it stored away in Zamboanga. I'd also already taken the pen name Chipester then. It's an amalgamation of my name and nickname (Chester and Chip, combine the same letters and then join em together) hence the name. I only added Khan when I turned 18, just to complete my pen name. I'd always envisioned myself in an island with a pen and paper in hand. Forehead furrowed, busily writing my next masterpiece. Alas, real life took over and writing gave way to more practical jobs, although I tried to hold on to the dream of becoming a writer. I still wrote as much as I could but then studies and girls got in the way. And then being in a band and cars demanded my attention too. So I never really perfected the art of being an effective writer. My grandfather (mother's side) is a devoted diarist and he has volumes of journals in Zamboanga, which I've read a lot. My other grandpa (dad's side) was an excellent writer with phenomenal handwriting (both talents I kinda lack) which he used to woo females with, and eventually my grandma (who's 95 now by the way). I'm still trying to figure out where I got this interest to become a wordsmith from. All I know is, it helps me focus when I write. And it also takes me places where no one else can. And so I write, to escape the pressures that I face everyday, in my bid to succeed. Tata for now. http://www.picable.com/Art/Animation/Cool-Shirt-with-Indian-Designs-on-It.2050731

Hi Chip! Let me quote some lines from my journal a few weeks ago, and hope you apply it to you, too. (Although, like you, life has occupied my time, and I no longer have that burning desire to "write a book". ) 'Write everyday. Write like your life depended on it. Write like today is your last day on earth and this is the last moment to do something that you could leave on this earth. Write. Write. Write.' So, just pick up that pen (or notebook. or Ipad! ) and just write, write, write. Who knows, your written ramblings might turn out to be a bestselling book! I'll be the first to have my book (which you'd have written) signed by you.
