ChipesterKhan chronicles - part 10 - The waiting is killing me
The hardest thing to do right now is wait.
wait, wait, wait, wait... I'm pacing the floor, looking at the clock, the calendar, sighing.
I have to be patient. I miss my car but I don't want him to come out half done.
Every weekend I make an excuse to visit. Everyday I try to plan enough time to go to Mang Dante's shop just to get a glimpse of what's being done.
I'm already beginning to suspect that I am getting a bit pesky. I busy myself with scraping paint off my doors and shaving body filler off. And then I go observe what Nato (the welder) is doing. I don't say anything cause I know he's doing the right thing.
It's amazing how he checks a body panel and then cuts it up, makes a replacement and welds it in place.
I wish I could learn how to do metal work like that. I am gaining some knowledge though just by watching him work.
I spend an unhealthy amount poring through vwcp.org, checking if someone's already done the mods I want to put on my car. After that I'm off to thesamba and checking the same things. I'm trusting Mang Dante's shop to do so much for me and so far they've delivered. Work on my bug is kinda brisk too, considering there's only one welder.
They have many cars in Mang Dante's shop and all are receiving royal treatment, even cars that aren't paid for fully yet aren't ignored. There's always someone doing something on a car. They're like a well oiled machine.
Mang Dante and his crew aren't just out to make money out of volkswagen owners, they're just about as passionate about volkswagens too.
Mang Dante can go on and on about volkswagens while he sands a car. Mang Raffy (the painter) has a passion for midnight blue beetles. Nato says if he had the funds he'd buy one. And Wawie is totally nuts about beetles. He has the volkswagen dementia too. he has ideas that are really good about what to do and how to fix bugs.
Everyone in that shop is a nut. A volkswagen nut. And it's a perfect place for me to go to when my anxiety levels rise. Seeing my car receiving expert worksmanship is kinda cool.
and then I head home.
and the waiting starts killing me again.
