In India there is the use of PIN code which is a 6 digit number but in the USA, we find the use of ZIP code which is a 5 digit number. What is the difference between the two? On various occasions, while using the internet, I have been asked to submit the ZIP code for availing some offers for example in eversave.com after logging in mylot.com, which I cannot provide with and as a result I am always deprived of their offers. Can anyone suggest how to get rid of this problem?

ZIP (code) stands for Zone Improvement Plan.
A service mark used for a system designed to expedite the sorting and delivery of mail by assigning a series of numbers to each delivery area in the United States.
ZIP is always five-plus-four digit code.
PIN (stands) for Postal Index Code.
It also helps in fast delivery of mails by identifying the particular region in India.
It is six or eight digit code. Each digit of the six digit or eight digit PIN code has some meaning. It identifies a region, postal area, district, etc. in a hierarchical manner so that the place can be identified.
Those offers are only available for US Citizens and thus they are required to enter their ZIP Code. Users from India cannot subscribe to those offers and cannot insert their PIN code as the system is only designed for ZIP Code means for US.

Thanks Jotomy!
Hi aeiou78
As for as PIN is concerned, it is also personal identification number used to operate debit and credit cards.
PIN code is used for postal purposes in India, which you have learned now as described above.

Zip code and pin number are one and the same but belongs to two different countries. In India pin code identifies a particular post office but in America Zip code identifies a particular region. Whatever it may be if the site does not accept Indian pin code for American Zip code that means the particular site wants only Americans for that particular offer.
