My Co-worker Just Snapped

During my 3 weeks of stay as an intern at an entertainment and media company here in the Philippines, I've learned a lot of things that goes around the workplace, especially around this type of industry, show business. I don't like gossips, not one bit. They say Filipinos love gossips but not me. Everytime I hear one from a colleague, I just pretend that I listen just for the sake of camaraderie or company or whatever.
I have a colleague that enjoys hearing these stupid gossips about celebrities that wouldn't even go a mile near the truth. Here are some examples:
-A certain actor eats live chicken for dinner.
-A TV host hires pr0stitutes to sleep with her husband.
-A comedian takes drugs before and after his tapings.
Now I don't know where he gets these stories but a lot of people actually believe these. Maybe the fact that I hang out mostly in the animations and visual effects department and my colleague is always in different shooting studios that's why he's getting all these gibberish.
Just yesterday, I approached a make-up artist of one of the celebrities I've heard gossips of. I figured, if I asked if it's true then it would get to the celebrity's attention so she would be fully aware of it. This is the one who hires pr0stitutes from the example above. I didn't need to know if it's true or not, it's just for the sake of making her know what going around the company she's in. Another thing is, if you think about it, it's really unfair for her because this is what's happening:
A:"Hey, I heard she hires pr0stitutes to sleep with her husband."
B:"Oh yeah? Wow. This is shocking!"
A:"Yeah, yeah, but don't tell her, she might get angry."
Can you guys see what's wrong here? They're not giving her a choice. This gossip will be hidden for a while until it spreads to the public and be caught by the media and that's the only time she will be aware of it. It's a dead end for her, that's the reason why I took action.
Just earlier today, my colleague snapped at me for saying stupid stuff. I told him that that STUPID STUFF came from him. He punched me in the face and that caused him two trips to the company clinic with a broken pinky and 5 stitches on his chin.
I got a mild bruise on my jaw but I've had worse before.
I just signed my termination paper 30 minutes ago because all that happened in front of my immediate supervisor.
On with another job hunt!

Hello front-visions
,
Oh my God, you lost your job just because you spread a rumor DAMN!
you sure are careless there. sure, you got balls, punching the person in front of the supervisor.well, i'd be sure not to spread any kind of rumors when ever there's a celebrity comes along or their staff. besides, it ain't a good thing you know. there's one rumor that kept in my mind (i couldn't get it out):
* Carmina's Villaruel's children are also children of Aga muchlac, though i thought it was just rumor, I SAW A HUGE resemblance because of the NOSE*

I didn't really intend to spread the rumor. It was for the person to know what the others are saying about her. I've had enough about rumors and gossips these people spread. This had been going on for a while within my stay and it makes me sick working in that kind of environment.

Good thing he apologized for it. Maybe he realized what you can do after what he did. I can handle people yelling at me but when I get punched that's a different story for me. I don't usually leave it to the authorities but I guess that's the best thing to do, right? Thanks for the info anyway.

Oh I see, mmm, I have sang in a Church for 7 years, almost daily, an there are a lot of gossip of the Priest... so many many things... that I don´t know if they are true or not. But what I know for sure, is that I get so so tired of them that my faith just decreased a little bit. I know I´m wrong because I must believe on God, but... all the gossips knock on my head, on my mind, and on my heart... why people can be so evil? Why can we be so evil and make gossips? It´s envie. And if the Priest makes something wrong gossips magnify it to the 200%... so it´s sad, but I feel like a heartache, but I know that God is there, that God exist, and that´s Him to whom we must follow, no people. =( Blessings!... Dainy

hello frontvisions!
That's the irony of life. You just wanted the hapless actress to know what's going on behind her back, since you feel that it's unfair to her, even if she's an actress, she's human after all. However, people are just like that. They do and say things, without really thinking about it, however, the moment they're confronted, they easily slipped away, and you would be left out, depending your ground for something that you did not actually wanted to happen.
Anyway, it's the sad truth about showbiz business in the Philippines. It's sadder still, when something like it happens to mere mortals who lead ordinary lives. Gossips can be cruel, especially when you're in the center of it and you had no inkling about it.
Well, good for you to have stand your ground although i pity you for being haplessly punched in the face. But im sure your colleague had paid for what he did..lol..pity him more.

That's for him to think about. I know what I did was wrong but what he did was wrong too and he deserved that.

Maybe you should hold your temper.
That's what you get when tempers are blown out.
Too bad for you that you will be looking for another job.

Actually, I wasn't really comfortable working there anymore so it wasn't a loss for me. I've two new job interviews coming up so no worries.
