Do you have a profile on LinkedIn?

Well I do now..
I'd heard of LinkedIn before, but never really had any interest in creating a profile on there.
But I had to create one today.
Why? Because it's an assignment from one of my classes. How crazy is that?
Chances are I will never use the website again.. but I had to create the profile, add the professor of this class, and I need to write a report about my experience with the website.
Do you have a profile on LinkedIn?
Have you ever had a weird assignment for a class, such as creating a profile on a social network? Too bad they didn't tell me to create a Facebook profile.. I've already done that!! LOL

Yes I did have a profile in Linkedin. That might be a great assignment if you understood your professor's intention. It is more like a professional website for people who has a profession as a job, and they could connected through this website. So, you might have a career opportunity by post your experience and your profession on this website. People can look through it. Like potential employers and employees.

I don't have much to post on that profile though, and not a lot of professional contacts either. I don't see how it can help at all.

Yup I got one, don't use it. Should though Mentoring For Free has trainings on how to use it to build a network marketing organization.

Yes I do have a profile on LinkedIn. I really don't use it but it is useful. I have a friend at work that is big into social media he has a lot of contacts on Linkedin and actually some employers found him through that website. What type of class was it that made you create a profile? Now a days it seems like a lot of potential employers actually go on websites to review resumes to find people. You never know it may work for you in the future.

Yes I do. And I've had it even longer than my Facebook account. I've always maintained that I preferred the LinkedIn account as it had all the features of Facebook, but people there act more professional. And because I am always on the look out for the next great job, I'm always in there.
A few years ago, I took some night courses to 'improve' my career. The only weird assignment we had was to go into a website of one of the big companies here and solve one of their problems. It became one of the case studies that we had to submit a report.

Thus far the only people I've connected with on LinkedIn have been some of my classmates. Though I see no harm in keeping the account, I highly doubt it will be helpful in finding a career as I don't have much experience to back me up aside from my current part time job at Subway and my schooling.

I haveadd a profile with LinkedIn, so far what i have to do is to add a profile of someone into our list. And the not so nice part is have to add friends who already a LinkedIn member. I dont think ti pays like MyLot site here

No I don't and while I'd heard of it I'd really had no idea what it was until reading this discussion! So, it's pretty much all about looking for jobs? I guess at this point in my life it wouldn't help me to sign up, unless there was legit information about opportunities to work from home and make a few bucks.

For me I guess it couldn't hurt for now.. I just feel weird because I don't have a lot of experience to list. I haven't listed previous jobs yet, but it's been years since I've held a previous job.

Like you, I've heard of it before. And like you I have no interest in creating a profile on there, so I haven't bothered doing so.
I've never had a weird assignment like that for class. But then again Internet was still pretty new back then. We did have computers in school, but they were old fashioned. I don't think they even had Windows! LOL

This class is intended to teach us about internet research and such.. so I guess this is a way to teach us how to research possible employment opportunities.

I am not on linkedin. I have heard of it I know that its some kind of social networking site but I dont know anything else about it. I've never even browsed the site. Your going to school and working and taking care of your kids wow your a busy mom :) Hopefully you do on this assignment.

I'm not even familiar with what linkedIn even is. I haven't had to do something like that for a class because the last time I was in school the internet was just starting to catch on and alot of things were in a DOS format of sorts.

I have heard of LinkedIn but haven't yet opened an account with it yet. I finished my school long back, when there was no such thing as internet, etc. We used plain notebooks, so there was just no question of having had to complete such an assignment. But I think that as a social networking site it is not as popular as Twitter, FB, Myspace, etc.

I'm pretty sure that I do have a LinkedIn profile, but it is not something that I use. I think that the reason that I built this profile was to get a bonus from one of the rewards sites that I am using. Hey, just because I sign up for something does not mean that I am going to use it.
That said, I never really had any strange assignments like that when I was in college. However, I really did have some strange professors when I was in college.

Well i never heard about this. So i don't have any profile on LinkedIn. The things that you mention is quite interesting friend so may be i will open one profile there.but till now i don't have any profile to LinkedIn.
