Maximizing earning potential to your website...

How do you maximize the potential of earnings for your website. I have read about using some methods which cannot be revealed because I guess it is about promoting another site which most of you know but the problem is that once you join them and it's against their rules then all your earnings will be forfeited, wort is you are forever banned from that site. You will not know that it is against their rules until you are penalized and by the time you know of it it's too late! Is there a way by which you will come to know of it's prohibitions before joining it. I am planning to promote mylot on my future website but the problem is what if mylot is prohibited on that website. Are there available websites which can be promoted in your website but is not prohibited in other websites...
