How do you communicate with your dog?

A few years back, I've been reading tons of dog training books on how to teach dogs the one-liners like sit, stay, come, etc. As they all say always do the one-liner so the dogs won't get confused. My dogs are all grown up now and I think they understand words I say but not just the one-liner. When they hear me say, 'okay I'm gonna feed the dogs now' from outside I can hear them excited for food. When I say 'go and check if they have water' my small dog will react cause she's always the one spilling her water.
I think they're even bilingual cause they hear me speak in 2 different language and they seem to understand. The other day, after bathing my big dog, I told him, 'uh uh you move over there or else I'll get wet.' and he did move to the other side to do the shake. Lol. It's just amazing and to think it's a whole sentence command.

I got a dog too which is a german shepherd and she is really good. I don't expect her to be that smart but i really love her. When I am teaching her the basic commands she is really really stubborn and does not follow me.But i didn't give up because i love her.
As time goes by showing my love to my dog she change a lot, she begin to learn the basics commands. When I come home she is there jumping and like a happy dog seeing her master.
I do believe that dogs understand unconditional love. They don't understand words. If you show them love and care they really really understand it.
Dogs are just like new born babies, or toddlers,or children. They don't understand words but understand actions and tone of your voice. Just like when you show affections to a baby, the baby smiles. the baby don't understand words you say but through your actions the baby is trying to understand you by observing you and your voice,

Hi santos mari chris: I don't have a great ability with dogs. Actually is my eldest brothe the one who can talk to Simon, the family dog. He told him: sto, eat, run and Simon does it. Actually I'd like to be Peter Griffin just for the pleasure to have a dog that can talk to me in the same languaje
. It would be amazing if we can talk to animals like Peter or Dr. Doolittle.

hi there!
well, when I still have a dog before, I use to talk to him like a person. Its funny coz sometimes when neighbors hear me talking, they thought that I am really with someone in the house, sometimes I guess they think me as a crazy person especially that they know I am alone in the house and yet I am talking as if I am talking with a real person!
i like talking to my dog that way and it really gives me a nice feeling when he reacts with what I am saying. I remember back the, its just me and him in the house and then all of a sudden there's a brown out, I told not to leave and just stay with me, and know what? from the time of the brown out till it came back he's just with me and if I happen to go somewhere he follows me. haha I wonder if he really understands what I told him or he's just scared too! lol!
it makes me miss my dogs now...too bad that I was not able to have another pet now coz it is not allowed from where I live. they are really a good companion.

I used to talk to our dog like he is a little person and he wouldn't listen to me most of the time, I read it from the book , it says dogs don't think you are a big dog if you talk to them like that. Since my baby was born, I spend more time with my baby, I play with my dog lots lesser. And I realized when I talk in a firm and lower tone to my dog, he listens to me better.

I have two puppies, the older one I called him Kenji and the younger one, I called her Blair. I trained them earlier so they'll get used to what I'm always talking. They understand me and likewise I understand what they want. I knew if they like to pee and pooh and especially when they like to eat. They knew what I don't want but still their antics made me smile since they want me to run after them. When they wanted to play, they get their toys and showed it to me. I consider them as my children.

Oh my God! First of all, hello there dear Animal Lover. Second, I saw a news highlight the other day, seems the scientists find out dogs can learn up to 1000 words!
I communicate by talking and I know they memorize more by the strong silable, I also have musics that I sing, when she poops I sing one song so she don't feel bad or insecure that I'm gonna clean her...up. I have a music for food so she be even more happy, she knows when we are going to get up, when it's time to sleep because of what I sing.
She was locked and never walked for years when I adopted her, the old owners were who maybe? the devil? so when she came to me she was all scared, she didn't shake her tail, she didn't bark, didn't move...so I made up a song and start DANCING to her, that's right, I felt stupid but a good stupid. In one month she finally open up, she still seems very insecure but now she shakes her tail all the time, doesn't bark, I don't think she ever will I don't know why but she now understand my words, with the songs it's time for what and many other things. I'm grabing her, kissing and hugging all the time.

Oh Santosmarichris! Sure! They are like my family, I have three dogs and a cat. I´ve lived with dogs since I was born. My dogs, and my cats, know me as well as my sons. They recognize my feelings, the tone of my voice, even we talk each others with our eyes... have you noticed the communication with the eyes with dogs? I love my dogs? !
How many dogs do you have?
Blessings!...

This dog are silly sweet, but stupid, he ran in front of car and jumps on top with his fingernails scratching hand. The dog is big and not learned, and always very strong smells from dog. The other dog does not smell as strong.
