All My FireFox Add-ons and Toolbars vanished!

i recently had my laptop sent off because the fan broke and they had warned me that they might scan and erase/fix my hard drive if it showed errors. that was cool i backed up everything and stripped it of every thing i had and programs etc... when i got it back they hadnt erased anything and so i just put firefox back on and i didnt even need to reinstall the toolbars or add-ons i had and they all WORKED! a few days later and after upgrading to the newest version i had it up then closed it and then like an hour later i brought it up and ALL toolbars are GONE! i thought maybe they were hidden but they weren't. i went to reinstall i get error messages. my add-ons were also GONE! they show up in the add-on list on my firefox and show they are turned on but they dont work at all any idea on what happened? if i cant reinstall the toolbars i had im thinking that ill run into the same prob with add-ons and i had my firefox pimped out!! im wondering if it was an upgrade or something but ive upgraded before with no probs except maybe one or two ad-ons wouoldnt work with the new version but never anything like this.. i have clicked all over the top of my browser thinking they were hidden or something but that doesnt explain the add-ons.. anyone have this or know what to do?!?!?
