Hi friends!
I am here on mylot for around 5 years. Yesterday, I received so many notifications in my mail box, wherein two users responded to my very old discussions, which I started when I was a green-horn here and did not have much experience. They both took me back to memory lane and gave me an opportunity to re-visit my old discussions, which otherwise, I would not have touched. I found that at that time those who responded to my posts are not around presently and probably have left mylot due to one reason or the other. It was a mixed feeling to re-visit my older posts. Has it ever happened with you that someone touched your very old post and made you feel nostalgic?

Yes it sounds quite interesting that what feelings come up when we see our old post. I am a bit new here and have not started so many discussion so I have to wait a little more for this experience. But yes, in other sphere of life when people say or do things which recalls our past, I also have felt mixed emotions because all the things come in front of my eyes -- bad ones and good ones.

I am here not even one year and I did not post that many discussions, so I really do not have your experience. I think I would smile at myself while reading it and thought of how cute I was at the beginning.
I understand your feeling, as many in my friend friends butch are not here either. I kind of wonder where are they now and what can I do to make them come back?

Please send the PM again, I have not received any from you (I have just rechecked).
You can only chat with old pals if you have their communication address e.g. email etc. or they are connected with you on any other site like Facebook, else it would be difficult to contact them.

Hi jen!
Hopefully, you will get older one day, here on mylot and then you can feel the experience, which I had. And am sure seeing somer very old discussion, you will smile back at your knowledge and the way your friends used to communicate.
Those who have left mylot for good may not come back, means cannot be asked to come back. If you have their email IDs with you, you can get in touch with them and ask for the reasons.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
dpk
PS - did you get my PM? (am waiting its reply)

Yes, because it does make you wonder about things in here and make you remember some of the many Good times that I have had in here as well. I know you and I have been here for a long time now, and it makes you wonder where some of these people are now for sure. I often hope they are all doing Good still and that things just got in the way. Glad you are still wanting to stick around here as well.

Hi krause!
Yeah, so true! We just cannot recall each and every discussion of ours and when some new user/friends visit the discussion, it makes us nostalgic. We are still continuing but many have chosen to skip mylot and hope they would be elsewhere.
Oh sure! I will stick around here. I love this side right from the day one and my love for it has risen day by day.
Have a great day!
Deepak

Hi Deepak,
Of late, as I age and my hair turns grey increasingly, I realize that I’m becoming too cynical, practical and lazy to really enjoy memories. It seems more and more of a waste of time to rewind the clock and burble about times which will not affect me in any way. Memory is interesting and worth revisiting, only if I have something to cull from it…otherwise it has little sentimental value for me.
Since you know me here for quite a long time, you’d notice (not that you have to) that there are very few discussions that I’ve personally started… staring my own discussions seems rather a distracting thing… it leaves me with little leeway to check out more interesting discussions (like the ones you start)… so the very few that I’ve started, were time specific…they are no longer relevant to me today. Hence, I never go back to my old discussions… yes there are new friends, who are courteous enough to visit my profile and shift thru the pathetically low count of discussions started by me and post a worthwhile response… I’m thankful and grateful to them for that but it doesn’t really make me maudlin about old times.

Hi Sudipta!
Please do not assess yourself in such a manner that you are getting cynical and lazy to enjoy memories.
. Let me tell you one thing that our positive (past) memories are like good assests and you can always count on your blessings. You need not think about the past bad incidents/memories. I can understand your reasons for not starting your own discussions and whether your start your own discussion or not but I will always like you to join us in my discussions because you bring beauty and colours to my discussions. I also felt that (my) older discussions are no more relevant as of now, as they look mundane to me in the present context.
Many thanks for joining and sharing your views.
have a nice day!
Deepak

I saw some older discussions coming back to life yesterday, bth my own and those of friends!
I don't start many new ones and my older ones keep popping back into the limelight. It is good to see them still receiving responses and comments and some are still topics that seem very actual and could have been started even recently. There is a lot of reading on some of them that received several pages of responses and I feel sad for those who wade through them all before leaving their own response
As soon as one of my old topics receives a new rsponse I get back and comment to whoever left it so that they know that I am still here and will possibly come back again too!

Hi diana!
So you also experienced the same thing that some users touched your old posts and probably made you nostalgic. Like you, I try my best to post my comments on my older posts, provided the response is such that it will prompt me to make comments.
.
Many thanks for dropping in.

I’ve felt like that whenever any of my old posts have been resurrected. It is strange when I read my really old stuff. It seems to me that it was written by somebody else. My style of writing has changed a lot over time and I can sure see the growth in some of my earlier posts and others I rather forget about!

Yeah, you caught the point, which I wanted to emphasise that over the years, our style and pattern of writing has changed and when we see our older posts, we may laugh reading our posts.

Hi Deepak,
It happened with me many times
, somebody even dug up my first topic in mylot. It helps me to realize the mistake; I have not resolved that topic, just because of my lack of knowledge in the initial stage. By getting an opportunity to read the old topics in this way make me realizing the changes in writing, some improvements, some laziness (lol). I would like to add that one of my one year old discussions recently got 98 responses; a year ago it was on 93, somebody given a life to that topic again so I received five more responses.

Hi Sree!
It means that some of the users also touched your older posts and made you nostalgic about those posts. I found it amusing to look at my older posts, which were looking very ordinary and funny to me. May be at initial stage we were naive and did not know much about posts/memebrs. Thanks for sharing your experiences. You always start good discussions and many users respond to your posts.

hi dpk. you have not accepted my FR yet, didn't you?
there are times, from time to time, someone here will make me feel the nostalgia. newly found friends usually do this for me. and some times, i also do the same if i have new friend added to my list. i make them feel older, on mylot, by reviving their old discussions.
i guess this is really time for you to act on my FR.

I have been here alittle over three years now. I used to get about three times the notifications I get now. I have seen people come and go. I still see some of the old ones here occasionally. I have befriended many of them on Facebook and am able to keep track of how they are doing over there.

Hello!
As you grow older here on mylot, you may find that some new user or a friend has dug up your very old post, which you may not be able to recall instantly.
. Many old lotters have left mylot and they are not to be found in any discussion and sadly we cannot help it.
Thanks for dropping in.

I have been a member for less than a year, so I don't have that old discussions. I do respond to some old discussions sometimes. Yesterday I responded to a 5 year old discussion and the discussion starter commented right back. I like that very much. I wish to see someone replying to my old discussions sometimes, but I can only hope for the moment.

Hi zr!
I can understand your elation when you responded to a five year old post and the user (host) posted his/her comments on your responses. Some of the users are very particular and they do not fail to post their comments even on older discussions. There is nothing wrong in responding to old posts.

You are right that if a member has been continuing for many years, it means s/he is consistent and loyal to the site. It is always fun to interact with older members, who are very experienced and can guide us on tricky issues.

It was indeed satisfying to know that the user is still active. I hope I am still here in another 5 years and someone dig up my discussion.
I like interacting with older members and read their point of views, etc. Not that I am not interested in newer members, but there is something to be said for about experience. In real life as well as in online world.

not on Mylot since I'm relatively new here, but on forums and on Youtube. Yeah, it feels a bit weird to read one's own posts after a couple of years. Sometimes I think it was written by someone else or I think that it's total rubbish or it sounds reasonable and brings back memories.
Funny stuff!
Cheers

It's nice to meet and know someone who has been in mylot and it shows that such sites like this can really be good unlike some others which go scam when they want and how they want to.
