Just a little Rant...Going by experience of the way some Drivers just hit the brakes as their turn comes up instead of indicating first,(like those following should know where they're going..) I'm wondering should makers save on costs and battery power by not fitting indicators in the first place? Rant Ends...

To save on battery power, cars should be refitted with LED or light emitting diode bulbs , takes up only a fraction of the power that 12v bulbs need, it also does not produce heat so it's eco-friendly and helps prevent global warming. Not fitting indicators could be hazardous, just hitting the brakes is more of a wear and tear cost to the brakes as well as the tires

I'd like if it was possible to retrofit a car's systems with technology updates or upgrades such as lighting...as you say,LED's are more efficient, but the car engine itself would be more of a global warming issue than the lighting..I'm joking about not fitting indicators!

Those hand signals would still be in the UK "highway code" book,AFAIK...they're supposed to be used when your blinkers don't work,or if you're a cyclist..

oh I remember the time when we were kids and my father would bring us siblings to school, he would stick his hand out of the car window whenever he was going to turn, and my mom would signal in the other side, there was no car air-conditioning either so it was alright to open the car windows, well that's what you call battery power saving

Maybe car makers should install the equivalent of Microsoft PaperClip: "Are you thinking of turning right? Let me indicate for you." "Are you planning to hit the brakes? That truck is only 50 yards away." "It looks as if you have gone to sleep. Can I wake you?" "It looks as though you are about to attempt a U-turn. You cannot do that here. I will straighten up your wheel for you."

I love that idea. I am afraid there will always be people who put those on 'Ignore Permanently' mode anyway.

The time is definitely coming when cars won't need a driver at all..we're just filling in here until the technology catches up! We've now got satnav "Sally" telling us where to go,some cars are now fitted with sensors that'll detect and alert you if you get too close to the car in front, and even take action if you don't...others will warn you if you stray out of your lane..And Competitions are being showcased on Tech Programmes about robotic vehicles navigating a route unaided..Anyone recall Clarkson on "Top Gear" in the Passenger seat of a BMW Programmed to go around their track without him touching the controls?! Where do you draw the line, though, between "Helpful" and "PITA"?!
