http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/health/preparing-a-disaster-kit-2467090/ thats is the link of what i read just now about a disaster kit. i think it is too much although i know it is just a suggestion on what you should have inside your kit. though i find it already too much. i just want to here your say about this. of course my country differs to others so we dont need to bring a coat, i know some other countries need to. so if you would make a disaster kit are you going to it to the letter?

I think that it depends on what disaster type you are preparing for and where you are at in the world as to what you might need. Those are great suggestions and far as preparation, but it would be hard to get all that stuff around if you had too..lol. I am thinking that it's a great idea to have a few things just in case.

a kit is still a kit it is meant to be handy and small. that you can carry and run. if it is all so heavy already then you can no longer run. specially if you have kid/s to carry. we have an emergency kit ready at home for we experienced flashed floods already and that kit is handy and easy to carry. but i suggest to bring a coat for this can keep you warm no matter what country you are in. thanks a lot for the response.

Yeah some are way over the top! I try to have the basics and tend not to over do it but it is because I live in a large city and not prone to certain disasters. However, if I lived in certain areas I certainly would take more precautions then I currently do.

i have the basics too, after the flood devastated our city 2 years back me and my wife has this emergency kit. but reading this makes me feel like it is somehow very hard to manage, or to run or to escape when you have a tons of loads at your back. plus it is heavy already to carry our child so the smaller the kit the better. but of course i need to bring water the bigger the better. thanks a lot for the response.

The article simply suggest being ready just in case a disaster comes. You don't have to follow it as suggested. It may differ from where you are and what you need.

Sounds more like a Disaster Chest than a Disaster Kit. Kits are supposed to me small right? I may have it wrong though I just thing the necessities will do. Some First Aid Stuff, Communication stuff, some money, portable water filters or make water potable tablets. I guess like you said it would depend on where you live, in terms of climate and location.

yes i agree with you. kits should be small and handy. the things listed there are too much that you cant even run in case you need to run. the disaster kit (chest) will just slower you down. but i guess it is just a clue or list that you might want to bring in case. thanks a lot for the response.
