The same friend I just started a discussion about, also likes to go out all the time and everytime I go out with her I end up spending my money. I know that it's my fault too, and that I could save it but I don't. Anyway, It annoys me that everytime we go out I want to spend money, but it annoys me more that it seems if we don't go out she gets offended. Anyway, Im going to stop going out with her because the money I do get HAS to go to my cellphone, and the rest HAS to go to saving up for future cellphone bills / general stuff no one really cares to know about. Got a friend that HAS to spend?

I had a friend who used to spend a lot of money until she got married. Now that she is married she has finally realized the importance of saving money for important things such as a house and starting a family. When I did hang out with her I always made sure that I brought my drivers license (for ID only), enough money for the bus and one small soda other than that my purse stays at home. I had realized that this works well.

That is a really good plan. No checkbook, no ATM card, no spending.

My friend is pretty much married as she lives with her bf, but she spends his money. It annoys me actually, and I Doubt she'll learn that she needs to stay at home and suck it up. I don't have much money to spend anyway so I can bring my whole purse. The benefit of not carrying cash and only having it on the debit card, I don't want to overdraw on my debit card so I just don't use it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, almost everytime I hang out with friends we spend too much because just hanging out is way too boring. Although whenever I don't have money I just say I'll pass so they won't offer to let me borrow money because that's more or less the same thing. Yeah, if you wanna save up I think you shouldn't go out with her anymore, or at least not too often.

I am the type of person that can find amusement out of anything so I don't really need to spend money. I could go on a long drive, but she isn't that type of person. I guess the best thing is for us to not hang out very often but that doesn't seem like its' going to be a problem anyway as she hasn't texted me since she had a fight with another friend.

That's good news then. I seldom meet people like you. I knew this chic who seem to enjoy anything I proposed doing. One time we literally just hung out at the front of her apartment, we just talked til dawn. It was a nice thing to do, though, just talking about each other and our friends.

Fortunately, no. I have friends that are just as broke as me. I can think of how frustrating this could be. Your money has obligations, just like you do.

I feel bad for her though because she needs to save the money she has. I know I don't have that much money and so every little bit I get is important to me. I just wish she'd realize that as well, not so much for me but for herself. She needs to keep her money too.

And does she ask you to go out? Ofcourse she gets offended! THen she has to spend her own money. I would kick her to the curb. Is she moody? Maybe she is bipolar. My daughter spends. I would set some definite boundaries. Who needs people like that in their lives? She's a manipulator and she needs to be shut down.

wow okay no no, she spends her own money she just always wants to go somehwere to spend money and it makes me want to spend mine / I do spend mine. I have enough willpower not to, but I just wish she would want to go somewhere where we didn't have to spend. I could go for a long drive in the country but she is not that type of person.

Oh, I get it. I misunderstood. I guess it is just up to you as to whether you go or not. And you could just tell her you don't want to spend the money.

Fortunately, I have a friend who loves to spend for her friends. Good thing for me, but its not a bad thing for her as what she always says. I don't know she just loves to spend for her friends. And she even has lots of money too. However I dont want it at times, sometimes I get ashame of always asking for her. But, It could be okay too XD

I wish I had a friend that would let me borrow money and the such, but I don't. I used to be that kind of friend but I don't have a job and when I get one the money is going to me saving up for the things I need.

Hi SomeCowgirl Yes, I do have friends who like to spend but I very seldom go shopping with them. When I hangout with them, it is usually at places to eat. I think it is not necessary for you to spend your money if you go out with your friend. If she likes to spend, just let her spend while you watch. Maybe you can also give her some advice about saving for the future. Try not to go to places like shopping malls or boutiques where you tend to spend money on. Maybe she just need your company, so why not suggest hanging out at cafes for drinks and chit chat. Or a walk in the park would be good too.

Not going out would be rude, you should tell her that you have to save up and all that, im sure she will understand. i dont time much to hangout with my friends besides going to collg and coming back home, yet i could spend all my daily pocket monies right there, which i dont cause im saving up for a new cellphone too xD
