I have been a member of MyLot for a long time. I have noticed in recent weeks an increase of responses to really old posts. More than HALF of these responses are plagiarized - book reviews, web reviews, ect. I guess new users think they will not get caught if they plagiarizer on older posts. Yes, I report each and every one I notice.
Anyone else notice this trend?

Yes sedl I have seen this trend too!
I report whenever I see a plagiarised post, regardless of whether it is on an old or a new topic, as there is nothing, absolutely nothing, worse than those lousy scum plagiarists who think that they can come here and earn by copy/pasting the work of others. They are cheating and stealing the earnings from the honest users
I see them through the 'recent' tab as every discussion that has received the latest activity, no matter how old it is, will appear there as soon as it has recent activity.

I wonder if MyLot captures the offenders I{ address and permanently bans them? That is what should happen. Sometimes it seems like its the same offenders over and over again.

It often does but they just keep getting banned and if we help out when we find them, then they will possibly (hopefully) give up.

Since I rarely have time to browse, no I haven't noticed any plagiarized answers, but have had some of my old posts replied to and brought back up front. Good for you, for finding and reporting these...

I really don't spend much time on MyLot at all any more. I noticed a few last week, then this week I got a number of emails for 4 years old discussions I started that had new responses, some of which were plagiarized.

With a one year old running about and homeschooling, I have to pick and choose my online time lol I was doing some contract work so that ate up a lot of my MyLot time as well. This month I am focusing on MyLot though

Hi my old friend. I have been here about as long as you have, I think. I have not paid any attention to the plagiarism here recently. I have only been back to Mylot about a week, I think though. It does not suprise me one bit that someone is doing this though.

I believe we started about the same time, if not at the same time and for the same reasons
Had I not had my email options turned on to get responses, I probably would not have noticed myself. I would not call myself an active mMyLot user anymore.

I'm not sure if I had. I browse posted topics and respond to those that interest me but I really am not sure if those topics were rehashed or outright copied from older ones. But I did on one occasion read a comment which was taken from Wikipedia. I wasn't sure if that constituted plagiarism since I don't think the article was copyrighted. But what I've noticed is a recurrence of old posted topics or similar ones that were just rephrased.

Anything posted on the internet is consider copywriteen because its "published". So without proper documentation, that would be a copywrite violation.

I thought I saw this as well. I had a discussion about a movie, and someone answered with a really long summary. That wasn't really what my discussion was about- I was just asking what people think of the movie, and the person went and responded with a whole summary/critique so I think it was plagiarized from a movie review.

Good for you. I am new here and I must say, if I post something I want an honest self thought opinion answer given back. If people have to go the route of cheating to give me an answer, I'd rather them not respond to me to begin with. I don't blame you for being upset. I haven't posted enough yet to have the pleasures of an issue like this but when I do post more... I hope I get the courtesy of honest answers.

Yes I have noticed the recent trend and can say that I am not very pleased to see my own responses copied and stolen for a quick cent. It upsets me terribly to see that some members cannot simply respond with their own thoughts and I have reported.
Reason for reporting is that I would like myLot to continue its immaculate pattern of being a trusted site so anyone helping to keep it clean means we can continue to enjoy the site.

I haven't really noticed that myself- but then again I haven't really been using Mylot all so much. Still, I do not like the idea of people abusing this site like that- ultimately it will only lead to problems for everyone else :(
