The caption 'Discussion I have started' on one's profile page.

Hi friends! The other day one of the friends reminded me that I missed her few older discussions. When I searched her profile page, there was not a caption showing ‘Discussions I have started’, therefore, I could not find her previous discussions immediately. I feel that if the list of discussions started by a particular user is available on his/her profile page, then it gets easier to respond. I find that some of the mylotters do not have the caption – ‘Discussions I have started’ on their profile page (for the reasons best know to them). My view is – won’t it be better that if they include this caption also so that those of their friends who might have missed their previous discussions could check their old discussions from their mylot profile page and could respond. What is your take on this? Would like you to share your views on this suggestion.

I don't think that all mylotters care where other find their old discussions or not. I am of the opinion that many just want numbers of members and that is all they care about. They don't even see the true working of the site. Now, there are many that do want to get their stars and reach payout and all that but not all.

Hi celt! You may be right that many are not too serious about their discussions being noted or responded/commented upon and they do not bother, if their profile is incomplete. Many thanks for dropping in.

I think that may be it. They have other reasons for being here.

Not only friends but potential friends. When I get a friends request , it is the first thing I check, The posts they have started. i see if I can respond or not. If i find at least 4 or 5 Interesting posts I add them , if not , I don't . What is the purpose to have friends who I can't respond to?

In fact after I posted this , I got a friends request with a person didn't have the posts they started listed! It was the first time I had seen that!

Hi! I fully agree with you Sara that 'discussion started by a particular user' is the true reflection of his/her interests and hobbies and it gets easier to make out, whether we can relate to him/her, if we get to see her/his discussions at a glance on his/her profile page. Many thanks for dropping in.

Yes, some mylotters take it off so I think) when they are beautifying their profile pages. You are right...if they take that option off, how are you expected to go find their discussions. Another time consuming exercise would be to go to YOUR option of 'discussions your friends started' and hunt through the pile! which can take you ages!!

Yeah, I agree with you Sandhya that users not including the essential sorties/elements on their profile page makes me feel confused. I find it difficult to understand them and to locate their posts. OMG! finding any particular users' discussion (read friend) under the caption 'discussions your friends started' is very cumbersome process because there are some users who start too many discussions within a short span of time that the entire page of that caption gets cluttered with one user's discussion only and to flip through the pages to find out someone else's discussion is a tidious job. Thanks for sharing and dropping in.

I thought that was on everyone's profile, but I guess it is not. If you still want to go find her older discussions, perhaps you will look under the "friends started" tab. People should not scold you for not visiting their discussions, though, because it is your choice to respond or not.

Hi Gerty! You raised an interesting point and it has given me another clue to start a new discussion.. You see I face difficulty in finding a particular friend's discussion under the tab 'discussions my friends started' because there are some good friends who on a particular day start bulk discussions and the entire page is full of one friend's discussion only. To search for a particular friend's discussion, I need to go back to page 3 or 4 or 5, specially, when I do not receive notification or it is 'off' for that particular friend. I wonder how some of the users (read friends) start 5-10 discussions at one go. Many thanks for sharing your views and dropping in.

I keep that option on my page. When I get a friend request and I check out their page, the first thing I look at is the discussions they started and responded too. I guess I am looking for what might have interested them in befriending me. Sometimes it is just for referrals but if I can find a connection, I usually accept. I also want to give people the option of looking into my activity. I have also had to go to profiles to catch up on their discussions when my notifications have been on the fritz. It is nice when they keep the option open.

Hi Jen! I agree with you that it is always better to check a new users discussion to get an idea about him/her and his/her profile page tells a lot about him/her, his/her nature and choice etc. Sometimes, we do not get notifications in that case checking one's profile helps to respond to his/her discussions. Thanks for dropping in.

Yes, I think it is a good idea. It is easy for us to respond to our friends' discussion when we are away from myLot for a few days. That way we would not miss any and it is easy to trace with that caption 'Discussions I have started’,

It helps in quickly searching the discussions and many users like to keep this sortie on their profile so that others could check.

I follow my friends’ discussions through my email notifications but I appreciate what you are saying here. If one has an interest in another person and wants to view his or her profile having a list of discussion started would certainly make responding a lot easier. I don’t know why some people change that, I have chosen colours etc. for my profile here but left the basic set up as it was originally.

Hi Paula! Nice to see you here. Hope you are doing well. Thanks a lot for endorsing my suggestion. I also believe that a user's profile page should be like a ready reckoner to check out the discussions s/he has started or responded. I fail to understand what makes some users to delete important features/sorties on their profile page. I do not keep notifications feature 'on' for everyone, else my inbox will get cluttered with so many 'notification emails'. Thanks again for sharing and dropping in.

No worries Jai, your profile prompted me to start a discussion and now I have got the right answer that even if the sortie 'discussions I have started' is not available on the right side of one's profile, it could be checked through other option available on the left side. Now, I hope I won't missed your discussions, even if I do not receive notification. Many thanks for dropping in.

It would be nice to have a bit more simpler way to be able to find the discussions in such a nice organized order but I do see where depending on who answers it last it does not go back into any chronological order, wishing thinking on my behalf, lol. I do see where the members in box one explained how I would have as well. I do hope you do find it a bit easier that way, as there really is no other way outside of that, unless like the member also explains that they add the sortie to their profile page. It is a bit intrusive to find discussions that perhaps we had not responded to if we do not remember, because we would have to flip through each and every one to determine if we have or not. Maybe for that one member you can turn the alert on and in the future you will have a chance not to miss them, is the only other suggestion I can think of. All the best to you.

Hi HWG! Yeah, if the important captions/sorties are organised, it gets easier to check out the discussions, through one's profile page. I agree with your suggestion given in the last para of your response, however, due to certain reasons, I do not keep the notification 'on' for each of my friends, elase my inbox will get flooded with 'notifications'. Many thanks for sharing your views.
