I have become a Passive Christian

Hello Lotters, It's really been a while since I've been an active Church goer. I think i stop last year when my mom started joining Christian Organizations, she was actually persuaded to join three of them at least. but thanks to that connection, she was able to fasten the permit to build our commercial space more efficiently and fast with much hastle. also when my brother starts being active member of the Choir in her subdivision, things are changing in me. Way back i used to be the most active church goer and prayerful person to the Entire family since most of them were busy with their work and other things. I used to go to church and hated missing a sunday with out going to special christian events like the Night mass and Holy week. Now, I don't even like to feel going to church anymore. last time, I went there i felt so intimidated with the priest sermon, specially when he compares catholic with other christian religions. and the songs which they keep changing (Sheeesshh). though, avoiding to be a complete hypocrite is the main reason, but recently, i find it more depressing as i get irritated easily now a days. besides, what's the point of going and listening to the word of God if i have a hard time doing it now. i've seen other people who aren't catholics nor doesn't have religion who are doing much better. though most christians do to, but am not in the mood lately. *you know, i tried to read the bible once, i fell asleep after reading just ONE verse* besides, i do my best to avoid too much being judgemental/discriminate unlike other christians that i know of. Don't take it negatively, it's just some phase that am going through right now. though, i do need your opinions as well. just take it easy on me.

Me too. I don't pray that much anymore and I also don't go to church that much. I feel guilty because of that. Now that I am free from work, I plan to be back on being closer to God.

Hello mspitot, you have all the time you need like me, I don't want to force myself when I think I still have doubts or something is not right. But I can't even leave the house because of the construction that has been going on for years. Have a nice day.

Well....we can still pray anytime and anywhere. After the construction, you can visit the church.

I have become somewhat passive also. Alot of people think it is a bad thing for us to do this but I think it could be a nice break to step back and take a look on life for ouselves.

Hello steph, I do believe it's a good break for some reason, I have been active for years and only recent times that I decided to laid back and see what is the part of being christians I have really done besides going to church and listen to the word of god. Sometimes, It doesn't matter if you don't know or remember the history or preachings, as long as you do good and willing not bragging about it. Have a nice day.

hi letran maybe you need to go to a different church for awhile like a methodist or congregational church and enjoy just singing the hyms and be aware that theres not so much pomp and pageantry in C hristian churches not that I am putting Catholics down as I am not. but we all worship one God so just change your pattern for awhile if your mom and loved ones do not give you heck.I hate judging anyuone and being judged. You are not doing anything wrong for us to hassle you, a lot of people get tired of church at times. My opinion is you are a very good person and are living proof of christian living so do not sweat it. anyone who resues kitty cats has my seal of approval.

Hello Hatley, No, I wouldn't wanna go that far, at least in this religion, am not forced to attend gatherings, I have my own will. By joining other christian religions making myself a lot more hypocrite than ever. I mean, I may have been bored a bit and has some faith crisis, but not to the point of leaving my christian religion. Thank you for your response.

hello LK, Just be who you are my dear brother. Don't go to church to please others,or for the sake of being called a Christian. That's what i like in you...you are real and true to yourself... I am happy that you can feel GOD's manifestation in you...day by day...just pray okay

Hello Sis Jaiho, No, am not always real but I do try to be honest to the fact that I won't get embarrassed. I really didn't feel like going back now a days, I don't know when I got so busy visiting god's home. But I hope to make time and prepare myself some day. I prefer to focus more on practical application on what was thought to me by the church and the school that has taught me every history about the catholic church. Have a nice day.

I guess a lot of us here have the same common problem. Me too, actually the last time I went to church was during February I guess. See, I even forgot. Most of the times, I am lazy to go to church. But what I know is that I do believe in God and I have faith in Him. You don't have to go to church all the time just to be a good christian. There was a story my roommate told me that when God visited a certain church, he was so sad because he was not expecting that only 10% of the people there are listening to the Word of God. Just have faith in Him. He'll understand you.

Hello MisterM I think it's useless to go forth to the traditions if we just do uphold to hit by simple attending to the traditions with out putting a heart into it. GOD has a plan on every one and do his thing to reach for some one. sometimes it needs people to be away just to realize how much they missed the lord. I do miss him, am sure i talk to him as well.

It is usually the young who are being tested in their spiritual strength. Satan are always trying to lure devoted catholics into their folds and once there it will dent their spiritual welfare and problems start to set in their life. I was brought up in a staunch catholic family and from young I was sent to live in a convent run by foreign nuns. I try to live my life according to the ways I was taught in the catholic ways. Even not 100% religious but I am thankful that my devotion to my faith has given me a disciplined and fruitful life. This is the month of lent we should all repent for we won't know when God is going to unplug the oxygen in us. Amen

Hello Zandi, I have done this for years before I graduated from college. More so, I have done this a lot more two to three events ago, but I just ended up going back to my old self again since I can't be consistent with much change. I think change will be determined by your will and not merely influence by christian teachings, it's not immediately that you can make a decision though. But I know and still believed in God. Have a nice day.

Hi sweetie. As far as i can remember, and believe me that is freaking far, you don't have to be a active church goer or whatever you call that, to be a christian. Either you are or your not. Churches cannot make christians out of people. It have to come from you and you alone. Take a break, i'm sure God will understand. He is patient.

hi LK, I feel the same way too.......way back before i am active church goer most of the time i attended processions and other religious activity but as i grow older i just found myself i have my own way of asking forgiveness and thanking him besides even i will go to church everyday it will be useless if i will commit same mistakes over and over again. Some of the religious people i know they act as if they are disciple but they don't even follow the words of the Creator they can even recite the whole bible but they never apply it to their life and most of them can easily judge someone (had experienced lot of it before) i don't intend to hurt those religious one i am just stating my opinion, have a nice day

Hello catch, That's true, I don't want to look like a fool going there and still doing the same thing after hearing a mass or sermon that made sense. I know people who don't follow what they are taught to, they tend to be judgemental with others so much that they think they're good at everything. To be honest I tend to avoid much on religious opinion about others. have a nice day

OMG! we have the same mom, member of church organizations. I never was active in church since I was young and so was the rest of my family, not that we don't go to mass, we do but it's ok to skip one specially during rainy days Lately my parents gets sick often that some friends invited my mom first to healing masses and the like until she became a member of organizations in the church. I'm not keen on becoming one and sometimes it irritates me when she forces me to come along cause for me it's all pointless. I mean for it to be meaningful you should voluntarily and wholeheartedly join right? and not be forced. Maybe that's why up to now I don't see myself being active in church events. And lent is not the most favorite season of mine in the church calendar sorry.

Hello vanny, I believed that lent just reminds us of how God suffers, and how we should realize that suffering is normal because even Jesus Christ suffered as human, no one was exempted. It's ironic that a lot of people try to change their ways most specially even holy week, but they ended up either pretending they changed or simply they just went along with others believed they have changed. They usually changed back to their old habits after a month or two. Have a nice day.
