Seems I've fallen through the cracks.

In Vt, they only wanted to talk about the next operation. Here, they only wanted to send me onto the next Dr over there. (Here, Plattsburgh, NY; There, Burlington, VT).
So I'm recovering on my own. Friday will be two weeks and I'm supposed to be mostly recovered by then. Until yesterday, I was just as bloated and swollen as I was a couple days after the operation. My Mom was like that. They put drainage tubes in her and upped her diuretics (water pills). So since in 3 days I'm supposed to be able to go back to exercising, it's time to get going.
According to Homeopathic Medicine, Arnica Montana, a plant, is supposed to help with swelling. Got some. Yesterday was my first day on it. Things are breaking up and dispersing already. Package says if swelling isn't gone in 3 days, consult a Dr. Right. So I guess I'd better be better by then.
They asked me all kinds of questions in VT on Monday. They asked me about pain. I said none right now, but if flares. What level are the flares? 4 sometimes and 8 others. She could only put one number in the machine, so she put 6. Didn't ask how I was managing or controling my pain. Just moved right on to the next questions. She asked if I had a history of depression, I said, "Getting there." She said, "Oh good, a sense of humor." She finished up her questions and left. I wonder how many people killed themselves after hearing all the things that Drs. want to do with their bodies and they couldn't even tell anyone, not even by hinting that they were depressed. Wow!
The Doctor told me the results that he received from my other Dr. I tried to talk about things that were bothering me and I hoped he would do a physical exam. Nothing. Just after the review of the documentation, went on to the next operation. Told him I thought I should heal up from the last one. He said I had time with the two months of chemo. I told him that chemo weakens people. He agreed, but thought the chemo was necessary in case there was any other cancer anywhere. Also buys me time to heal.
So I got that the two most important things are the next operation and filling in computer screens. How much pain and how I'm controling it from the last operation, immaterial for this discussion. Depression was just a question on the screen. My last operation, no checking of my body to see how that went. No pulse, no bloodpressure despite them asking me about history of BP which I told them I had. My history, who cares, just stuff to fill in on a screen. Never asked me if I was having any complications from the last operation. Tried to tell him, but it wasn't on his agenda, so he moved right on to the next thing he had to say.
So here I am. Thank goodness my sister-n-law bought me a homeopathic medicine book for Christmas. Looked up swelling after surgery in the back part and there it was, Arnica Montana. Arnica for short.
What do patients that aren't their own Dr. do?

Oh that comment about having a sense of humor would only be good if the woman took the time to seriously ask how you are doing..You kind of sound like my daughter, she is good at using humor to cover a problem. I do hope you find not only the physical help you need, but also the emotional help.

I'm trying. There is an herbal destress and positive thinking tea that I might try.
Since the nurse has never met me before and it's a cancer clinic, don't you think she should have asked me if I really am alright?
Sounds like your daughter and I could have a good time covering problems together. Thanks and take care.

My daughter would tell you what she thinks or would say to that nurse, but it wouldn't be anything nice..she tends to speak her mind, laughs at herself, (as in when she was a kid and fell down, she'd laughed,) and she can be very sarcastic. She can also exaggerate, which can be funny sometimes..lol

Hi writers
Unfortunate that the doctors all around are almost the same - expecting us as specimens for their experiments.
I am today feeling happy for you. Nope, it is not the doctors, but that book and the desire to heal yourself
Really, it is a positive sign.
In case you are bleeding internally, please look up for Sulpher in that book. I found it useful tocontrol my bleeding(though our cases are different but still it helps in stopping the internal bleeding). Two more that I would suggest - Nux Vomica and Pulsatila - please look for these too as they might help.
Though I am (like you) on Alopathy/pharmaceuticals, still I do use this homeopathy at times as it helps - people have a notion that it is quite slow and yes, it is but there are somethings where it acts better (like Sulpher).
Until I was with (only) my doctors, they took 5 years to get the diagnosis correct - that I had UC, then experiments followed. Have this, get this done(the reports, tests). Do you know they even asked me to get checked for AIDS?
Never. I know it is no way related with that... Today, I use Internet to find and know what is going on in the world of Medicine for my ailments... and that keeps me better off.

You are such a friend. I'm really glad you're in my corner.
Sulfer might be a good idea, who knows what they did when I was old cold and I may be bleeding. If at the end of the 3 days, I'll still bad off for swelling or I get worse, I'll try the sulfer.
Yup, seems like the Drs. all have their own agenda. Silly me, I thought they were there to get me well.

Each time I pass by your discussions writer I can't help but read thesids response. I am very glad you two have met because I can vouch that thesids is quite an inspiration for me too. From the first time he and I interacted I could sense his caring nature.
for both.

for both.

Quite interesting, and hopefully not more of a sign of even more yet to come. I know you are on Disability, but I have Medical thru my job and most of the time I go thru about the same thing anymore. Does no good in reality to know what is going on and try and tell them what you have done, or what about this, as most of them do not even want to consider it. I think unless you are willing to pay them $10,000 to make something right most of them act like their is nothing they can really do and just continue to want to shift you off to another doctor.

Wishing you the Best with this my friend. I wish sometimes someone would side with me and help me more with my issues, but I guess sometimes they seem to think that I know nothing, and they know everything even if it hurts me in the end.

No, I'm not on disability. I was told by a Dr.'s office to apply today, they would help me.

I do hope you will check into the bioinnovations.net that I told you about in another discussion. The doctor and his wife swear by this mushroom complex for people going through these treatments. There are some great books as well. Several others like grape seed oil and curcumin that are great. Also CoQ10. You really should check these out.

I did research on my own last year for a family with a person going though Chemo and they had mushrooms as being good for keeping white blood cell counts up.
At other friend's insistance, I'm already on vitamin D plus coral calcium as well as fight back cancer tea. I'm not sure how many more unfunded supplements I can take and afford.

I surely understand. I think the book would be worth reading though.

There are a lot of people that just settle on what their doctors say but I have had experiences like you when it comes to doctors...that's why I don't have a certain one. I hate it when I try to talk to a doctor and they blow me off. If I say that something hurts or doesn't feel right...I expect them to at least look at it and say...not just say.

Hi writersedge
I am at least happy to see that you are continuing to follow the doctors orders and appear to be doing all you can during the interim of all of this. I am glad you are reading on homeopathic because the more you do perhaps the better you will feel.
I feel that patients who are not their own doctors do exactly like you, to go the lengths in asking, listening, researching and gaining strength.
I am still praying my friend, wishing and hoping for a miracle.

I haven't been able to keep up with your situation since I'm recovering from surgery myself, but I've been thinking about you and I'm glad to see that you're holding your own mentally. That's a big challenge at times.
I distrust doctors in general and am always asking questions of them, then researching everything online. I have a feeling that a lot of the time (or most of the time!) our medical care is more about money than our health.

I think so, too.
I'm very suspicious of all of them. You have to ask questions and even question the answers. Thanks and take care.

You go!
I had fibroids and my hysterectomy. My family has a history of them so I didn't have to fight for that.
I must admit, right now,I'm not really sure what to fight for or against.
Seems like I'm nobody's patient for that last operation.
Glad you're OK. Thanks for cheerleading me and take care.
