It's Good Friday today, have you seen people doing "penitensya" in the street? Penitence is doing a self inflicted sufferings to re-enact what Jesus experience. It could be carrying a cross, or hitting your back with a wood tied in a knot, or even having been nailed to the cross. I only seen a group doing the hitting of the back and I could not imagine what I feel seeing the blood dripping in their back. Though this is a yearly experience for Filipinos, it is still a little bit terrifying. I just hope that they will acquire inner peace for what they were doing.
Later this afternoon, there would be a "prusisyon", a tradition where Catholics would pray while walking in the street with the big relics of Jesus Christ and Mama Mary lined for procession.

Ive seen on news tv some guys were crucifixed to a cross in Pampanga for penitence. Since yesterday, my son was so excited to watch the procession of life sized figures of Christ and other religious figures. He told me everything that he had seen. Tonight theres this Senakulo, a small role play about Jesus Christ at our town plaza. Too bad i cant watch it.
