Good Friday... Penitence & Procession...

It's Good Friday today, have you seen people doing "penitensya" in the street? Penitence is doing a self inflicted sufferings to re-enact what Jesus experience. It could be carrying a cross, or hitting your back with a wood tied in a knot, or even having been nailed to the cross. I only seen a group doing the hitting of the back and I could not imagine what I feel seeing the blood dripping in their back. Though this is a yearly experience for Filipinos, it is still a little bit terrifying. I just hope that they will acquire inner peace for what they were doing. Later this afternoon, there would be a "prusisyon", a tradition where Catholics would pray while walking in the street with the big relics of Jesus Christ and Mama Mary lined for procession.
