I have this tendency to procrastinate whenever I think that I have a lot of things to do. I usually snatch time to do things that I like just to prepare for what I really need to finish. However, in the end, I end up losing time and not being able to finish what I really wanted to finish.
Help me by suggesting steps on how to gain focus and overcome procrastination. Your suggestions are welcome.

Twenty percent of people recognize themselves as chronic procrastinators. For them procrastination is a way of life, although a maladaptive one. And it cuts across all domains of their life. They don't pay bills on time. They miss opportunities for buying tickets to concerts. They don't cash gift certificates or checks. They file income tax returns not on time. They leave their Christmas shopping until Christmas Eve. Believing in your capability to do the work and going ahead with it is a good way of beating the procrastination block. Knowing how to overcome procrastination and developing good time management and organizational skills and efficiency are some of the essential steps to overcome procrastination in the long run. This should include effective planning, segmenting your household tasks and monitoring your progress. Remember that this is a slow process and you need to keep trying before you can understand how to overcome procrastination in school, office or even your home.

I think I need to develop a strong self discipline or improve my attitude towards work. I believe that I can still handle things at a later time. As a result, I tend to rush when the deadline is near. I haven't experienced yet having to miss opportunities. Most of the time, I suffer from work overload because I tend to relax when deadline is not yet near.
Thanks for the advise.

Write down what you need to do and estimate the time you need to get the task done. Then set an alarmclock. So let's say you're going to spend 30 minutes on reading a book you set the alarmclock for 30 minutes and that's how long you're going to spend on it.

Thank you very much for all your suggestions. I will try this. I guess my next move is to find an alarm clock that is small and handy.
I also need to break down all the tasks that I need to accomplish. Wish me luck!
