Malacañang already announced that the celebration of the Labor day which falls on Sunday, May 1 will not be moved to May 2, Monday thus it will not be declared holiday. My co-workers are complaining on how insensitive Malacañang was for the workers. We are expecting that May 2 would be holiday so that we could enjoy the day because that day would be meant for us. Labor day should be a rest day for all the workers.

There would still be some people who would enjoy the holiday on a Sunday. Those whose rest day falls in days other than Sunday. The main reason why they get to complain about it is that they're used to the previous administration's style. That if the holiday falls on a Sunday or Saturday it will be moved to a Monday or Friday. Which is (unfortunately) not the style of Pnoy. I am not pro admin, I didn't even vote for Pnoy, but I would respect his capacity to decide. The sovereign people appointed him, so I would respect the voice of the people spoken through the President.
Tell your co workers not to blame Malacañang for such a case, because they're not the one arranging the dates. They're just strictly following the dates designated for the holidays. :)

Yes, that's right, that's what the law says. Although it also says that the President has the power to move the day of celebration, just like the previous administration did. Yes, it's really advanatageous for the economy because the work does not have to stop. But, nowadays, a lot of companies still need to open even during the holidays, especially those involved in dealings with companies abroad, like outsourcing companies (such as call centers). In the "old style" if a holiday on a sunday is moved to a monday, the workers who report get a holiday premium, unfortunately, now no more because the monday is just a regular day. The benefit is for the business owner, not for the workers.

I think that is no big deal, friend. Because Malacañang follow only what the laws says.
Workers should not complaining about this process. This is a law and if that is falls into Sunday. What is the big deal into that effect...
Sunday is also a holiday. If workers want a holiday no need for them to ask about it. Because that day is also a holiday...
What important thing about is that law makers must see to it that the protection of the workers or labor will definitely applied and look for the betterment of every workers.
Law makers also create a law which is not limit the age of every applicants to find a jobs. This might be lessen the increasing unemployed in the country...

Yes, unfortunately that is one of the disadvantages since the new administration took over. If you notice, most of our holidays this year fall on either a Saturday or Sunday. Unlike in the past, the holidays would be moved to a weekday. It is in favor of the businessmen, don't you think? Now at least they don't have to pay holiday premium for those who work on the weekday that was declared a holiday because the holiday was on a weekend. I have been having this feeling that the current administration is for the businessmen, and not so much for the people, as people seem to think.

yes, i am sad also that may 1 labor day was not moved to monday to make it a holiday. But then as i think about it, we were spoiled by the former administration about the moving of holidays and so a lot of businessmen complained. I hope I do have duty on that day :)
