Just think, Lefties...

If Bin Laden had of been killed during a Republican administration, you probably would have considered this a war crime, and would be calling for the president's head, and demanding to know the names of every SEAL on that team. Kind of sobering, ain't it.

Nonsense. We criticized Bush for 6 years because he let bin Ladin slip through his fingers in Tora Bora, and then announce that he didn't think about bin Ladin anymore.

Nonsense back atcha... You did, and many others on the left did, but many (including Sen. Obama) considered the whole thing illegal.

Well, I don't even have to try since (if you would reread what I said) I didn't say you ever said that. "You did" was in reference to your post about criticizing Bush for letting Bin Laden slip through at Tora Bora.

I challenge you to document that I have at any time asserted that going after Osama bin Laden was illegal. You will not succeed in this challenge because you cannot.

You are right on with that estimation. But they won't see it. OR admit it.

they may not like it, but Obama CAN claim to be the one who did it all he wants, but HE DID it only because BUSH started the War on Terror. But wasn't the left bashing Bush's policies on that War on Terror all along?

How dreadfully sad but I think you are correct. Actually I think the kudos should go to Bush as the awesome Military Coup probably went into planning during his presidency. However God forbid that Obama would mention that! BTW I was not a Bush admirer until I was able to compare his presidency to Obama's current attempt to be a president.

Yup! Just think, as shifty and vile as Nixon could be, he never once took credit for the moon landing. He, and everyone else, gave credit to JFK and the astronauts and ground crews. Why? Because if it wasn't for them, it never would have happened. Compare Nixon's public graciousness to Obama's. Yes, I give Obama kudos for calling Bush, but Obama has never publicly repeated anything he said in private to Bush.

I guess neither of you remember how during the campaign when President Obama stated he'd do exactly what he did to get Bin Laden the right accused him of being "naive" and said it wouldn't work. Annie

anniepa No I do not remember. Could you please post a link to this statement from Obama. Of course I did not pay much attention to Obama's lies and false promises I was too busy trying to dig through his phony background to find out who he really was.

One thing I can say for sure is that it wouldn't have changed their hatred towards Bush or all the comparisons to Hitler. On the other hand they expect all republicans to immediately say that Obama is the best president ever and vote for him in 2012. Failure to do that makes you a racist.

I don't like civilian casualties, and I don't like war. I think too many wars are fought that should not be fought. However, when someone orchestrates an attack that kills as many as 9/11, and tries to strike at the heart of your country, you go get the b@stard. No matter what party you belong to/support/represent. For example, as a "lefty" watching from Canada, I agreed with the attacks on places where they though Bin Laden might be hiding, and I agree with some of the harsher methods used to find information on his whereabouts, but I wasn't so convinced that the war had to move on to Iraq. I'm sure someone on here has some good reasons for that they will share with me for that move, though, lol

I assume that if the operation had failed it would have been Bush's fault.

Oh yeah. I can see it now. My mind is a-turnin'. Invading another country without permission Killing instead of capturing "Secret" mission Enhanced interrogation (torture!) to get the info Anonymous SEALs Four-year operation for one target The political timing of it all, with the bin-Laden-is-here intel available for a while On and on... Yeah. I do not doubt it one bit. Had this happened under Bush or had McCain won the election or had it been any Republican in there, "Usama bin Laden Killed in Attack" would be replaced with "Illegal U.S. Tactics Lead to Suspect Murdered" or something of that sort. But I won't gripe. We all know what it is at this point. I'm just thankful they got the sucker, and I say way to go Obama for making the call to send in the SEAL team and to actually keep the operation alive in the first place. I do not mind if folks prop him up as the ultimate hero now where they most likely would have cried and whined and stomped about some injustice had it been a Republican. The bigger picture is that the world is better off without this evil maniac.
