Hello Lotters,
I
have watch about this increasing problem with the wage increase of our laborers. unfortunately, such proposal could shut down a lot of business most specially the Small and Micro Enterprises.
Some small Entrepreneurs feared that if they followed that then they will have no choice but to shut their business down. This is very true, Employers have a lot of expenses now and little profit to have.
The real problem in my opinion is that we have to get our own OIL supply so that we wouldn't have to import that's causing all these HIGH PRICES from all over!the rise of prices of commodities and services is due to rise of transport cost of products use for delivering the GOODS. I still stand on looking for alternative fuel source, we can't depend on foreign oil any longer, it's killing us
slow.
If I were an employee, of course, i want a higher increase but that's the case of all, right every one for themselves because there are other jobs to look for.
I guess Pnoy should go abroad and start courting More Businessmen before we loose more Entrepreneurs that would lead to more Unemployeds (like me
)

I know what you are talking about because I'm an entrepreneur here in our country, not that I do not want to give a raise or do not know the plight of the working class Filipinos, it's just that what they are asking for is just not feasible right now
, remember we just came out of a crisis or maybe not yet out, we are hurt just as the poor people are. Rising cost of oil and food and education hurt as too, it hurts everybody including my family. Yes if we cannot find oil then let's look for an alternative source, it's the way to go, we cannot all be forced into what we do not have control of.

Hello
Louievill,
It's
not easy giving a raise when you are not earning big or the profits are only enough to sustain you're expenses. Rising Cost of OIL is the main reason why food cost also rises because the rise of oil affects transportation of goods and commodities. I am not sure what prompts private schools to increase tuition unless it's got to do with utilities, but surely oil negatively gives contribution to the rise of almost everything.
good luck to your business.

that's why in order to encourage MORE ENTREPRENEURSHIP, we should find ways to alter route for fuel source and not just oil. not to mention we need water facilities that doesn't depend on the DAM..or power sources that doesn't rely on dam and COAL ( would you believe it? COAL? or uling!)

Private school owners at least most of them are also business entrepreneurs, remember that they too have people to maintain, the staff and their maintenance guys. Yes I agree with you that rise in utility bills like water and electricity would greatly affect them, but what affects them most is that most of them have students who have OFW parents, after the down turn, most currencies they are being paid are down, not to mention the turmoil in the Middle East where a lot of our countrymen lost jobs and most of their children also go to private schools. I had observed in my children's school that enrollment had been down and a lot had transfered their children to public schools.

I'm not sure of what you're saying about the companies having little profit? I mean it's been more than a year since we have survived and recuperated from the effects of US recession and I think it's time that companies give employees salary increase as well. You r suggestion on finding our own source of oil is really great. I remember having this simple project back in college where we made a feasibility study of making fuel out of crops and other vegetables. It was actually possible but I can't remember some arguments about it anymore. I just wish that Pnoy can do something about it.

Hello
Penro,
you should know that there has been a lot of jobloss
in the Philippines since that recession. Fed Ex transferring to china and a computer factory shuts down in bankrupt for not producing enough units. There a lot of studies in producing energy, these were cockroach for electricity, fruits and coconuts for fuel and hydro power in vehicles. Too bad government is too corrupt. Have a nice day.

I guess employers have a point when they say they're against wage hikes. But they have to prove that their business will suffer if they increase their workers' salaries because if it won't affect their business at all then they should adhere to this increase in wages. I just hope that there's a better solution to this problem because we don't want to be laid off or anything right?

Hello
Xtedax,
I think it will and I have seen how many small business closed down because they were unprepared for the risk nor lack of planning and proposal. The only thing that doesn't affect about this are the oil companies that earns more from the motorist. Most spefically the high way tolls. Have a nice day.

That has happened here in the U.S. Many of our businesses have gone overseas because of our minimum wage laws, tax structures and union demands. We have the highest corporate tax rate in the world! Also tons of regulations and our president is making it very tough for businesses to profit--he does not believe a business should make a profit but merely support the community it is in and break even.
It's nice to know there is a minimum wage but it has really curtailed competition here. And the unions are killing us with the aid of the government--our government's Labor department is suing big jet maker Boeing for wanting to start a plant in North Carolina, a right to work state (that's where you don't have to join a union).
Competition is healthy.
Have you considered paid writing as a way to make some money?

Hello
Dragon,
Yes, It's generally to avoid additional expenses so that's why some are being outsourced. If they indeed remain in your country, they would surely lost and gone broke that can really close down the business. But we can't afford to take out the Union in order to avoid abuse coming from the Business Owners. Nope, I haven't earned that skill to go into full writing. Have a nice day.

Right! our government keep on embracing that thing that keeping us independent and needy. There are a lot of inventions made by Filipinos that will cut the expenses of the people but they don't support it. They love to see our people starving because of the high costs of the commodities because of the oil price because of the money given by those oil companies than seeing Pinoys living better in a cleaner environment.

yes i have heard about that in the news too. I guess the small companies should talk to their workers about not being able to comply with the wages and i think the workers can understand. It is just a matter of compromising. Or what if there is a range of increase for workers in different companies. Like if the company is earning big then they have a higher wage increase.

Hello
Katrinapaz,
It's either they try a new marketing scheme to get more customers and earn profits to compensate with the government issue of raising minimum wages. Unfortunately, even call centers are decreasing their benefits to workers and working hard even though their benefits had decreased. It's not constant that companies earn big all the time. Have a nice day.
