i was looking at the clock on the wall in the office and i said when it reaches 9pm i will go home. i saw it was around 8:45pm, so i went back doing my work. and after a few minutes, the time was still the same. my mind was working fast, how can it be? i promised my husband i will be home at 10 and he will be online at exactly that time. and i jumped when i looked at the cellphone time, it was 9:15pm - the wall clock was not working. uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!. i had to run and look for a ride. got on one public vehicle because no taxi are available. the people on the public utility vehicle were looking at me. because i could not control stumping my heels on the floor of the vehicle. the driver knew that it means i am in a hurry but he was like provoking me and he keeps picking up passengers on the way even if they were not giving signal for him to stop and which made the vehicle move slower that the others. guess, did i make it on time? no.. i was late 5 minutes. but husband was very understanding. do you have public utility vehicles in your place? do they act like they are driving funeral cars (it was so slow!!)? what would you do if you were in my place? ann

Aw...but you made it and hubby was happy. I have never seen so many public vehicles since I have been in Philippines. All I have to do is walk out to the street and there are tons of them. Of course I do not know all their locations and have more than once been on the wrong one but I'm learning. And for me they are sometimes tooooooo fast...lol

Sweety Situation is similar here too, the drivers try to pick up as much passenger as possible, they don't bother about the needs, urgency of the passengers at all, money is god for them I know your hubby well, he is such a nice person, very sober, very understanding.. but you must replace the battery in time to avoid this kind of situation in future A suggestion, you better buy a scooty to go and comeback from office. Once you tell your hubby he can buy for you.. Thanks for sharing Cheers. God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .

Yes, there are drivers like that here in our place. Just when you are hurrying, you would unfortunately ride in a very slow jeepney hoping to pick up more passengers along the way . To top it all, he would pass by a gasoline station to fuel up. Gosh! Most of the passengers are annoyed because we know that we will definitely be late for the office.

Well I have encountered such an incident here in Makati. It's not me in a hurry though. And I don't stomp my feet when I am in a hurry. I avoid provoking the driver LOL. Anyway, yes, they do piss you off. They want to irritate you when you are in a hurry. And some even laughs when they see you get irritated. I saw the woman before was also stomping and her face was really in ANGRY mode, but the driver continued to slow down, as if there's a stop light every now and then. And when the hurrying woman get off the vehicle, the driver sped up, I didn't get late. Wow. I then realize he was really pissing her off.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you since you were fast enough to detect the malfunctioning of the clock. I did face the very same problem a few days back when our wall clock malfunctioned due to discharged batteries, and I missed an important anointment. I was able to notice it after one hour of delay. Actually, I checked time and there was one hour left for that appointment. When after about an hour I rechecked the time was same, I got alarmed, but nothing could be done at that time. Here in Jaipur, India, we have mainly two type of public transport system which are as follows: Government owned Rapid Transport System: It is very good and drivers do not waste time in waiting for passengers as they are paid by government. The lane in which the bus runs is also exclusively for bus only, so there is no traffic problem and you can reach at your destination in a very fast and easy way. Privately owned minibuses: This is a problematic system as drivers are in habit of waiting for maximum number of passengers on the stand so that they can earn more. They drive in general lane so there is traffic problem. They drive slowly in order to reach another stand in a time when there is a number of passengers waiting for them. Sometimes, they dive very fast in order to reach the stand when there is another bus behind them. I usually, if needed, choose the government bus only as they are safer and faster mode of transportation. Yes, cabs, taxi, auto, etc. are other modes of transportation here which are also good enough and generally not problematic.

hello nishan, you probably had a lot of explaining done why you were not able to make it to the appointment. a lesson i learned. if i need to be on time, i have to just set the alarm in the cellphone and i will be reminded. thank you for your wonderful reply. ann

We do have a bus system, but I live in a semi-rural area, and they stop running at (I beleive) 7. Most people around here that don't own a vehicle or two, walk because it takes so long on the bus route. I personally have not ridden it because I used to live 40 miles outside of my town and they did not have any system that went out that far so I have always had a car. If I was in your place, I would just do my best to be patient, and would have called my husband before leaving to explain that I would probably be a few minutes later than expected. But, I always try to remember that I'm probably not the only one that's running late, and that the bus driver is just doing their job. They were probably not intentially antagonizing you, but I could see where they would get irritated themselves at someone who was not being patient.
