hello mylotters,
here it is summer and today is my dayoff from office it being sunday, so i washed my woolens last night they were soaked in special soft, safe detergent, now they are drying. i will be keeping them when totally dry but i want to place some protection from moths and insects. last year, 3 of my pure wool sweaters were eaten by insects. those naptha balls are a bit helping but the smell of the sweaters seems very damp and old like it has been in the cabinet for ages and it seems that it needs to be washed again to remove that old smell.
do you have a better way in preserving your woolens? how do you make it sweet smelling even after having been kept for a week or month in the cabinet? can you please share some tips?
thank you in advance.
ann

Dear Anny
Here too it is getting hotter day by day
We don't need the woolens, so they were washed with special mild detergent liquid first, spinned to remove water and then hung in sun light for two hours, i am sure there was no water left.
I kept each in transparent polythene bags, slipped 2 to 3 napthalene balls in to each, tied the mouth, all were now kept in a plastic bag, it is recommended for safe keeping of wools, it has an air tight zipper, a valve too, through the valve the air was sucked out with our vacuum cleaner, the volume of this bag became so less, i wonder!!!
I have kept that in a big trunk now, to open next year only,
Thank you so much for sharing

hi kal,
we dont need the woolens now because the weather is so hot. napthalene balls keeps the bugs away but it leaves some kind of "old smell" to the clothes which i dont enjoy so i just keep them in cellophanes and seal them. i keep them in boxes which i try to check ones in a while just to make sure that the little bugs dont do squatting on the clothes.
have a great day.
