For cinco de mayo I was making a jello dessert. On top on one third of the dessert was supposed to be sliced kiwi fruit.I bought the kiwi at the store. Brought it home and sliced it and it was so bitter it was not ripe at all. This was May 5th. It is now May 18 and I figured it would have to be ripe by now even though the outside of the fruit was still hard. I sliced into it and it was still terribly bitter and not ripe. Does it usually take this long to ripen? Before cutting into it and ruining it how can I tell if it is ripe? Will it be soft feeling like an orange or by then will it have gone bad? I havent had a kiwi since I was in high school when my friends mother let me have a slice. It was so good I was really hoping to eat these.

Hi. shaggin. I have tasted kiwi fruits and the taste is sweet and sour. It is very tasty. When I have seen ripen kiwi fruits, it is firm on the outside and soft in the inside. The white fuzz on the outside is visible too. I love jello and I have never eaten kiwi fruits on top of jello before. This sounds very yummy, I hope that you all will enjoy it too. My daughter had an event at her Head Start school this early May. It was called, "Cinco De Mayo", we had fun attending this event. Some of the teachers were dressed up into beautiful dresses, and so were some of the students of the Mexican descent. I had a nice time and I hope that you do too.

Aww I love to see when schools do fun things forkids like that. One time I had a cinco de mayo playgroup and that was fun. I was at party city the other day and this bus driver for the elderly said they have a little party on the bus on cinco de mayo and the fourth of july and things like that. He was in front of me in line buying things for it.
