When we're in a war zone, we talk about all the things we look forward to doing when we get home. We talk about the people we want to be with, the foods we want to eat, and the fun we want to have. While you are enjoying your Memorial Day Weekend, remember the people who didn't get to come home to have the fun you are having. Be grateful for your lives, and for those who didn't get to come home to live theirs.

hi parated thank you for a lovely discussion and reminding u s to take time to remember all that will never get to come home and enjoy the things we are all enjoying this Memorial day weekend. we so often just take all the good for granted and forget what we owe to those who fought for our country and paid the ultimate price. My heart aches for the wives and children who will never see Daddy again as so often we forget they
suffer too. thanks for reminding us.

Out town's parade will be Monday, last year I cried when they had our towns oldest vet speak a few words. The vets at the nursing home where I work were honored today. They have a special dinner for just them and their families, give them each a gift and the administrator makes a short speech. People are out tending graves today. This day always gets me choked up.
I called my brother in Indiana, he served in Korea.

I'm glad you said that. Growing up with a grandpa that was in WWI and fought in the horrible battle in the Argonne Forest I was always aware of the sacrifices men and women made for their country. Many people did not have that exposure and still don't.
I resent corporate America turning this weekend into a sales-fest. Everywhere you look there are stores and companies capitalizing on the sacrifices of our brave soldiers, making a buck on the backs of their suffering. I have refused to take advantage of Memorial Day and Veteran's Day sales for the past 30 years, they don't get a penny from me.
I'm putting my little flags out today. Our streets are lined with American flags and it is an awesome (truly, full of awe) sight. It is so beautiful! In my little city the parade is remarkable..people standing on the sidewalks and cheering our veterans as they march or ride by, yelling their thanks for the veterans' service.
