when I get pulled over. Its been a couple of years now but I was pulled over for going too fast through an intersection. He just gave me a warning. It was funny cause he talked to my grandson alittle bit and now my grandson makes sure we are all seatbelted in and all. Before that I was pulled over because I hadn't gotten my tags yet for my car. So have you been pulled over recently? Is it as embarrasing for you as it is for me?

Mine was for making a dumb left turn in front of a cop who I knew was behind me. Was paying more attention to him than what was infront of me...

Well I do not drive. In the last yr. my husband has only been pulled over once. The good thing is he was not given a ticket. Only a warning, and now I am on to him a lot more about watching his speed in certain areas. We are doing over 70 and I guess he was swerving a little bringing me home from work on night. (I get off work at 12:30 at night, and he works days, and he comes and gets me, so he is always tired.)
I did pray as he informed me we were being pulled over, and prayed while the cop took the information back to his car and called it in. Since we had only had our Toyota Prius a couple of months I really did not want anything being put on his record.

I was pulled over for speeding that one time and I was so embarrased. I try to be a good roll model for my grandson. Glad he didn't get a ticket.

I get embarrased if I get pulled over too. I recently had to go through a license check and I hate going through them. Usually they ask to see my drivers license and registration but he only asked to see my license and he went behind my car and looked at my tag. I get nervous feeling even though everything is ok. I have lot of friends that are police officers and I always feel fine around them but when I get pulled over I feel nervous for some reason.

You are not the only one who feels nervous. I think we get intimidated by them.

I got a ticket on Valentine's Day..lol. It was for speeding but I swear..I didn't think I was. I saw the blue lights and thought..oh..I better let him by..and when I pulled over, it was me that he was after. I haven't has a ticket in forever. I can't even remember the last time. I went to driving school on a Saturday so it wouldn't go against my record and raise my insurance. I pay enough for that now..lol. It was embarassing. You know there are a ton of people driving by looking at you....the lawbreaker

Yes, I know. People staring and making a big deal when for me is usually my tags or something silly I forgot. That is what is really embarassing for me!

I haven't been pulled over, but I wanted to share something about little kids and driving.
My son did saw a show on TV about a guy being pulled over for speeding. I've explained this to him a bit, and told him about the speed limit signs on the road. He's just 5 so he sits at the back all the time on his car seat. He can see my dash from the back, and always points out if I'm driving too fast.
Yesterday he asked why I was doing 50 on a 40 zone. It can be embarrasing sometimes.

That is cute. He is smart to know the speed zone and how fast you are going. Good teaching.

My husband was pulled over for something I keep telling him not to do. He turned a corner and went to the inside lane, without establishing a lane and signaling. I was with him and I was embarrassed and I was angry, but he still does it. He only got a warning. I guess I am somewhat obsessive about following traffic rules.

I would be angry too. I was always upset with mine when we would run out of gas after I reminded him several times to fill the tank. Ugh!

i celticeagle I was just thinking of a time when we were moving ourselves without a mover. We had a lot of varied stuff in the back of
our pickup and were tooling along on the freeway in California
about 80 miles and hour when we were pulled over by a Chippy
Californis Highway Patrol Man to be precise. He had in
his hands some paper sheets eleven by eleven inches . He told us that as we were driving along we were losing these things from the back of our pickup . He only warned us about the hazard of the stuff flying into someone's windshield. He helped us to bury them in a box u nder some heavy books. no ticket and the man was really so courteous and king. but it did embarrass my hubby.

That could be a problem. I recall when I made my short move a couple years ago. We started losing paper out of the back of the truck too. Turned out to be my stationery. We stopped and put it under some heavier items. Luckily no police were around.

i was stopped for speeding in 2000, on my way to work. i was late and had already gotten chewed out for that before. when i reach in the glove for my registration, my sticker card for radiation parking fell out, that i had been putting in my windsheild when i went for cancer treatments. when the cop saw that, he said he'd just give me a warning
nice huh?

I also get embarassed when I get pulled over because I am afraid that someone I know will see me. The last time I was pulled over was a little over a year ago because I had a burned out headlight. I was let go with a warning. The last time I was pulled over for speeding was in 2004, so it has been awhile. But I have to say my heart starts pounding the second a police officer pulls up behind me whether or not they are going to pull me over. My dad was even a police officer for almost 30 years and I still get nervous.

I don't see that as embarassing but now your grandson want's to be safe :) And a warning that's kind of cute how I see it but for me, when I was pulled over, it wasn't embarassing. I WAS SO SCARED as it was my first time. I got off as a warning too but I was so scared!
I had a warning for rolling a stop, tinted windows and speeding only cause I was in a rush for class and had a test! Thankfully I didn't get a ticket or else my parents would have been real upset at me!

So, the question is: WIll you do it again! If you do then the scared feeling didn't do much to teach you.

I don't know why I get some nervous when I get pull over. I happened to me twice. Both of them for speed. The first one I got a ticket and I think was unfair because of the circumstances. I was in a strange town for me and I was driving under the limit but I passed a school and I went over the limit. It was late and I told the officer that I were not from there and that schools are closed at that time. he said that in particular that school was in inter locking so was closing late. I cried because I found it unfair. Now I laugh every time I remember it.

I think it is intimidation. Not good passing a school speeding. Things are unfair in this life. You were lucky.

Hi celticeagle,
I come from a long line of law enforcers and so I just feel stupid when I get pulled over in my little hometown lol. =) Also it always seems to take me back to the first time I got pulled over at 17 for not stopping at the stop sign and speeding.
Last time I got pulled over I had a very nice chat with our new chief of police who I went to school with it was actually that dang stop-sign thingy again not very long a go okay it was a couple weeks a go. They had let school out early for a flood. Anyway I found out his wife and him are expecting their first baby. =) The stop sign is still there and hasn't disappeared. (I thought it had) and the old library is being raised and turned into a parking lot. =( I'm going to miss it. Then I was reminded the stop sign wasn't going anywhere and it hadn't moved was never going anywhere and I should slow down. That was that.
Most officers do just issue warnings on smaller things. Only the ones really wanting to be jerks yanks out their ticket books right away. The only ticket I ever got was the one at 17 and between taking that home with a B on my French test in the same afternoon. My parents were very strict when it came to grades, my mother expected 98 or above next to impossible at times. I lost my driving privileges for six weeks and that is what I think about when I'm pulled over for anything.

Driving is serious business. Having law enforcers in your family must be fun. That could really be embarrasing.
