Many of us, government and non-government employee, don't know the basic rights. Maybe because we just wanted to earn and continuously work in our respective company. But, what if, there will be unexpected circumstances such as urgent laid off ,or unjust monetary benefits, and illegal termination. These are just few of many labor issues most employees are facing.
I urge you to share the injustices you had or have experienced in the office and how did you try to resolve or seek your rights. Let's learn from each others experience. It is also appreciated if you can give more specific law to enlighten the readers.
Here is my story:
I worked in an office- based online tutorial. We were paid hourly rate. Most of us were single and working students. There were many questions about why we differ in tax rate though we were single. Why there were inconsistency in our monetary benefits though we were deducted every month? Why can't others have 13th month pay and some can? Why there were employees whose abiding company policies but weren't able to receive entitled separation pay and 13th month pay?
I got the guts to tell one's face that I know my rights. So among others who were complaining I am the only one who fought for my rights. I got a companion along the way. We filed complain and as expected we won. Although our case were similar to others but those who didn't file complains weren't able to receive what were ought for them.

I guess almost all of us didn't knew about labor code or labour law. Not because we a bit ignorant, but it just because we didn't get enough exposure about it.
Unless the company have an employee union, not many will realize about it. And most of the times, even if the employee know about it, there are nothing they cannot do when the employer breaking the law because of job security. They fight their right they lose their job. Even if they bring it to the court, the cost for the trial is not worth for the fight. And that is why many employee been taken advantage of.

Yes the circumstances you have mentioned were really true. But I think , if we ourselves don't even make a single step to fight and exercise our right then there will be many opportunist employers around. "Start from a single step" this is what I hope everyone should do. No one can always represent us in the real time battle but only ourselves.
In life we gamble in many aspects , if exercising what is RIGHT in the name of law means to gamble to you then take it. I think gambling in this aspect will never left you nothing.

I know there are few company that allows their employee to form a Union to fight for the employee welfare, just like my current company. And that is good. Most of the staff welfare are well taken. They fight for their welfare, request for increment and more benefits. but of course company cannot give us everything we want.
But for most companies, they don't allow their staff to form a Union. That where the company will exploit their staff. They really try to squeez everything they can. What make they can do that? Maybe high demand of jobs. They can sack 10 staff today, and tomorrow 25 people will apply for the job.
In this case, while most people afraid to lose their job, the task should be execute by the goverment body which take care of labor welfare. But most of them are corrupted and been bribe when they make a welfare survey.
This is a very hard issue to tackle.
