IT IS AS SERIOUS as THE FILIPINOS GIVING UP THEIR INDEPENDENCE... and I wonder why do we laugh at this situation... why do we laugh at the purportedly joke of our lawmaker. Can't they see this is a serious matter?
Our cities boasts of the asia's largest shopping malls, we boasts of our courage, strength and unity that led to Marcos' regime to end years back... our technology is not very far from the first world countries, and we do enjoy it as much as those that produced them... we purportedly tell the world our country is changed, we are to go to the right path and all... our people are educated, our people are God fearing... our provinces have numerous wonderful nature, and landscapes found in no other places... but here we are... claiming to have no resources to maintain a military, or a group of people to defend these that we are supposedly proud of.
How come we allow our lawmakers, our government to belittle ourselves. WE PAY our taxes.. we should demand the same from these people, the same way we demand good customer services in our telecommunications company, in our internet providers.. but why oh why do we laugh with them when they don't even have a clue as to how to run this country?
I know it is a good quality of the Filipinos to laugh at our problems, it makes us go beyond today, it makes us survivors.. but not in matters of state emergency such as this. We cannot survive this world as a country if we cannot even protect our sovereignty.

I think our people need a lot self-esteem and self-worth. We had bee
n thru foreign oppressors and I have to say that they treated us like second class. I believe we never recovered form that and up to today,we still have issues on what we really are. If we don't know who we are, are we in some kind of delusion?
I think that the politicos of today are declining in therms of quality and service. Many famed politicians of past years are not only politician but also statesman. Today, everything is just a popularity contest and impressing the people. And some people, don't care and given up on the politicians and the poltiical system (perhaps, even on this country). I guess most of us are becoming apathetic and the the type that goes on with the flow without question.
The thing about demanding 'good service' form the government is that we did put those people in power. But we can hardly touch them when they are actually occupying the position. It's not the same in the private companies or the private sector. The government doesn't fear anything unless the whole country and all the citizens withhold their taxes. Or inciting a revolution.
I guess we all need a wake-up. Preferably today. and I hope it will last not only for today but in all the years to come. We need to regroup but we don't have any clue what and how to do it.
