This discussion will probably be deleted so respond at your own risk Does anyone else find it frustrating that there are cooking and baking categories on here but we aren't allowed to share recipes? Even discussions asking for new ideas of what to do with chicken or different ways to cook vegetables or vegetarian alternatives to .... whatever ...these get deleted as well, even though they aren't asking for specific recipes, just ideas.

I have not have any of my posts in cooking deleted. Maybe it is because I write it in such a way that it has nothing to do with copy-pasting a recipe from the web. I have shared recipes and learned many things about cuisine from far away countries. Check at mylot´s search engine for chicken and you will see that there are plenty of ideas that were not deleted. You might even earn some cents using the search engine

You know, mike, I used to have a lot of posts deleted at the beginning. Then I discovered that I was not starting a discussion, but just saying something. A recipe, as everything can either be a discussion or just a way of doing something.

Hmmphf, well, I've asked for a few ideas myself because I didn't know what to do. I think it's a valid question, personally. For example I just found out that i literally had to COOK my gravy in order to thicken! Stupid me! :-(

There´s a GREAT difference between stupidity and ignorance. A brilliant, ignorant person can learn. So do you. Stop it or I´ll get mad and won´t ever give you another cooking tip. One of my nephews, years ago, managed to reach the age of 16 without knowing how the water boiled. He´s is now an architect, and a good one.

That is great! Do not worry one day I had tried to make chocolate chip cookies and instead of 2 1/2 cups of flour I put 2- 1/2 cups equaling it to 1 full cup. My cookies were runny and all the chocolate chips were in the middle together.

Wow I didn't repose that they were doing that. I thought it was just in the making money section that got a lot of deleted, because of links and edge etc. I think it is easier to post a question than try to sift thru recipe sites.

No, I can understand it, even short recipes take a great deal of space. You can always send a PM to a friend with a recipe.

They probably will not delete this post because it is not asking for recipes but just an opinion. Yes I do think it is kind of crappy I would rather find new Ideas on here but instead I have to go to www.allrecipes.com to find a good dinner, and most of the time they want to add fruits to their meats

My recipe for a lovely bread pud was deleted! I was only trying to be nice to everyone! Fat lot of good that was! I don't think it's fair that we can't share things that taste good and make us happy. I can understand the reasoning behind it. Mylot doesn't want us to copy anything, and get paid a few cents for it, but what about our own homemade recipes?

The reasoning is probably only partly that there might be a tendency to copy and paste recipes. I think that the real reason is that posting a recipe does not make for a quality discussion. If you look at the Guidelines and the list of things which are in the 'Don't do this ...' section, you will see that what most of them have in common is that they are, on the whole, poor discussion topics and are not likely to encourage good quality responses. There are plenty of sites where you can share your recipes (and even ways of earning by doing it, if you are clever). MyLot is specifically a discussion site, so there are some things which are just not appropriate here.
