This MUST be a sign!

I live in the suburbs. There is one bridge in my region that gets us to the downtown core for work, entertainment, etc. Now, I'm NOT a "city person" and I rarely go there -- but when I was working outside the home, I commuted daily. My older daughter goes to a major university downtown and my younger starts college there in the fall. At about 8PM last night, the Transport Ministry completely shut down the side of the bridge that we use to travel home from downtown. They have deemed it "structurally unsafe"!! For the entire summer, all traffic in and out of my region must use one side of the bridge only -- one lane in each direction. Besides, the fear I now have of the whole thing just falling down... ... I'm thinking I got a pretty strong sign! Due to some personal circumstances, I had applied recently for a job downtown. I don't WANT to do it but we don't always get the choices we want, right? What I really want is to keep working from home like I've done since 1992. However, a couple of my clients don't have funding for their projects anymore and this, naturally, impacts me directly. It's going to be seriously hard work for me to replace that lost income with remote clients... but I've never been afraid of hard work and I feel like someone told me this morning "You are where you are supposed to be... just FOCUS and do what you need to do!!" Have you ever asked for, prayed for, wished for or just seemed to receive a "sign" to help guide you in making an important decision? Did you get one? What did you do as a result of it?

I think that I have had several things happen to me in my life that I would consider guidance. I also learned that we get most everything that we ask for but sometimes it doesn't happen in the way that we thought it was supposed too..lol. I usually didn't have a lot of choices..my guidance has always came when I was at my lowest points. I guess that is when we need them the most though.

You know what, Jen? Your response reminds me SO much of a song called "No" by Brad Paisley. Do you happen to know it? There is a part in the lyrics that says: "Make no mistake Every prayer you pray gets answered Even though Sometimes, the answer is no." I don't really pray but, like you, I sometimes look for guidance - and it doesn't always come or, if it does, I guess I'm not always listening! ;) I really have to work on that!

I dont really pray but I have wished for a lot of things in the past. I do try to look for signs and sometimes they present themselves. For example recently I just got a new puppy. I was trying to decide between two males. Then one of the males gave me a sign he grabbed my hand with his paws like he was saying im coming with you. He came home with me a week later. :)

Awww how very sweet! I just adopted a dog too (about a year old, they believe). I've had him for three weeks now :) I felt like I got a sign about him too! I haven't had a dog for six years, since my Cody had to be euthanized. I just wasn't able to even consider another. Even though I checked this rescue's website all the time, for about five years and saw tons of wonderful dogs, I never felt ready... until I saw Charlie's pictures. I told my sister that his eyes looked right into my heart and I just knew. I applied for and got him and he's an awesome little guy.

Unfortunately hindsight is where these signs often show up. We look back and see where we beat our head against the wall over and over before we finally gave up and then everything fell into place. In reality we are always just where we are supposed to be, just need to wake up and pay attention. Blessings

Good point, savypat! So many of us SEE the signs but we routinely ignore them. I call it not listening to my gut. I used to be really good at sticking to my own intuition but sometimes we stray and meander a bit along the path. You're right that waking up and paying attention is what I need to do right now, in the moment.
