Living in the present.

I've just come to realize that I'm neither a pessimist nor optimist. I think these things are just an aim in life in how you want to be.. meaning a mindset for the future. If I surrender myself to the moment of NOW in life and choose not to be something other than myself, I am neither pessimistic nor optimistic. What do you think of my revelation?

It is like a numb feeling really, to not be pessimist and or optimistic. Neither are bad so as long as one does enjoy life, is how I see it.

I disagree. It is not a numb feeling to not see only the negative side or the positive side. It is more fulfilling to see and accept both sides.

sketch sorry you see it differently but I did not say only negative or only positive. When I state a numb feeling what I mean with this like not having one or the other, I have my days where I have lots of positivity and then I have days I have some negativity. When I, don't have either then for me it is like I am numb. Was not inferring for others it as it say how I see it, maybe I should have added the for me part.

I think now days there are actually three categories. Positive, negative and realist. I think your revelation is very realistic. We can't always be negative or positive but I think realistic comes in there. A grey area has to be established atleast for me. Nothing is definite all the time.

I completely agree. Here is one of my most favorite quotes: "An optimist is a person who sees a green light everywhere, while a pessimist sees only the red stoplight... the truly wise person is colorblind." -Albert Schweitzer I believe we should accept each moment for what it is. If we always wish to change the moment, we can never be at peace. No moment is ever perfect and that's really what makes it so wonderful.

I wish that I was on the same stuff! I'm not one, or neither, but both at the same time! And I don't think it's a revelation or mindset - just plastered!

This reminds of me of that Grass Roots song.. but anyway, I would consider myself a pessimist, due to the fact that I think in the negative. However, I am not a negative person, I just don't see the point in getting worked up about something that I am not certain of. I do plan for the future and that is where my mindset is drawn to. I do consider all the things that could go wrong and have a back up plan at all times. I think it's necessary.

That makes perfect sense to me, In my opinion, you are a REALIST. There are times when you know enough to be positive, times when you know enough to be negative, and times when you probably don't know how to feel until whatever's going to happen, happens. This is exactly how I live my life, so what you say makes perfect sense to me.

By living in NOW you are in the only reality there is. However you can attract energy to yourself by your attitude. A positive person attracts positive just as a negative one attracts negative energy. This means you must guard your thoughts, what you say and who you asssociate with. We live in a time when negative energy invades our world, through the press, our entertainment, and many persons who we deal with on a daily basis. One thing positive energy does do, is make a positive person stand out and draw others of like goals toward them. Blessings

i think it can be possible. i have to say though that if one is both a pessimist or optimist, he is also neither.

I am rather somewhere towards one extreme or another, depending on what is going on in my life and depending on my mood. I think that I am rarely in the middle with this case a lot of the time. There are just going to be a lot of times where there are times where there is a brighter view of life. There are going to be many great things. Sometimes it is based fully on reality, in fact a lot of the time, it is really based fully on a lot of things that are a part of reality. I tend to not have one static life view a lot of times. Although there are going to be a lot of times where its going to be the other direction as well, when you really think about it. There are going to be days where life is really not going to be the absolute best that it really could be. It is really an harsh thing but a rather true thing a lot of the time. Still as long as you don't spend your entire time in one place, but rather bounce back and forth for what really does happen, then it is really something that can be great.
