Silverchair is one of my favorite bands, in fact it is the number one band in my favorite list. Now, they have officially announced that they are going on separate ways temporarily. This is sad news for me and other silverchair fans out there. I do hope they regroup soon and regroup with a great bang, one that will once again capture the ears and heart of the world. For more details and updates on this news and their band, you can visit their website at www.chairpage.com

I see that this discussion is a year old, so I am wondering if Silverchair stayed disbanded? In hindsight, I am surprised that they stayed together as long as they did. They were so young and it seems the natural progression of many bands to break up and try different things.

After reading this comment, I realized that it has been that long since I last checked on updates on my favorite band so I have went to their website and see if they have regrouped or something. There was no news about it yet, just some projects and individual updates so, they have stayed disbanded still. You are right, actually their band also had a long break before they actually came back to do their last album. At that time before they announced the released of the said album, I thought there wasn't going to be any more.

I do hope so. Although I am pretty sure it will not be as the same band but probably individual works or new groups, as it is what they are into at the moment.

Maybe we'll be seeing their various talents presented in different venues in years to come. :)

I at least hope that they'll be doing individual projects that are just as awesome as their own work together. Break ups can be tricky, but I hope they still stick around and come back with more awesome material!

They actually said, according to their statement, they will be having individual projects, and I'm thinking their gonna turn out great. I just hope they'd come back with something spectacular again.

This is a group I have never heard of, and probably because I am from the US. But over my lifetime I have seen a lot of Bands break up. Sometimes later they do come back together, but a lot of times they make other bands, or go as a single star, and continue to make wonderful music. Since you started this discussion a yr. ago, maybe their is signs of what will happen from here, and if anyone is going to continue to make something of themselves with music.

I am from Philippines, but I guess it's common here for people to know more about foreign bands than about local ones. Well, you are right. this is usually the case in bands, they either continue performing or break up and recreate new bands.

Aww...I hate it when a good band breaks uo...there aren't many things that are more disappointing than that. Maybe they will get back together or do a reunion thing.

It is unfortunately that silverchair has separated. I know Silverchair since the album called frostomp. Look like Nirvana. One of my favorite band too.Daniel Johns vocal character i think more varied than Nirvana.Maybe they're currently still in bad mood or stuck in little depression. Hope someday they will perform in a big concert again.

I am glad to hear from a fellow Silverchair fan. I agree on everything you said about Silverchair and Daniel Johns. Well, According to the website, this statements were posted - "Therefore after much soul searching we wanted to let you know that we're putting Silverchair into "indefinite hibernation" and we've decided to each do our own thing for the foreseeable future.", and it seems, as I have just recently checked, that there is no news yet of them putting up another album together. I, too hope that they will once again have a big concert performance.

whoa! haven't heard of this until I saw your post. I am a big fan of this act from Merewether, Australia since the Frog stomp era and collected cassette tapes of them except the "young modern" album. I have my fingers crossed they'll regroup soon to make more amazingly beautiful songs, to give bliss to their fans around the world. Long live Silverchair!

I have actually just found out about it after I have responded to a post regarding Foo Fighters and the discussion starter mentioned this to me so I immediately went to their website to confirm the sad news. I, too have collected tapes and still have their complete songs from all albums. Like all other fans, I'm sad about the news but I still wish they'd come back with something new and amazing.

Wow, I honestly didn't even know they were still together! Last I heard of them was their one-hit wonder about a decade or longer ago! Sorry to hear the news, although it doesn't really effect me too much as I wasn't incredibly familiar with them or too many of their songs anyway.

I guess you aren't one of the fans but I'm still happy you took time reading about them. Their last album was actually released on 2007 and I think the reason you got familiar with the band is because of the time grunge became the song of the generation and, yes, it was probably decades ago when that happened. Anyway, thank you for your input and have a nice day!
