My blog looks different on different browsers

I can't tell how it looks to others. When I view my blog form Google's Chrome browser it looks fine. The print is the size I want it and everything lines up good. But if I view it on Firefox some of the post do not line up right at all. The print looks larger also. How can I tell which is right? I had similar problems with my website. Anyone else ever had this problem or have any suggestions for this?

I had the same problem and still have it with my sites. It's almost impossible to look the same in all browsers especially in old versions of internet explorer. And i also don't like flash and java and so on because than some users don't have it or might not have the wrights to install it and your whole site can't be viewed. Most pc users are up to date but there's almost no way to be optimized for everyone. About websites the only tip oi have would be to use the smallest screen width for your design... i think 800 pixels if i'm correct but on the other hand many people now have wide screen monitor so the site will look so small on it. There are some ways to auto fit a site to users monitor but you have to really know what you're doing. I know of many programmers that just said, no it won't work in ie 6 and there's nothing we can do. It's so complicated and incompatible, so many variables. Good luck anyway

This is a common problem. You have to write standard XHTML code which defines the font sizes in pixels, and use standard fonts (Arial, New Times Roman, Courier). Boring stuff, but it's the only fix. The "What you see on your computer" type of program is absolutely useless because "it isn't what I see on my computer".

I don't know how you are creating a blog, but if you have the option, use relative font sizes rather than absolute. By that I mean, don't use "font size 3" or whatever, use "font size +1" which will increase it by one size no matter what it is. Also, don't use hard breaks in your formatting. Let the software do the word wrap and you won't have to worry about things lining up. Leave only a blank line between paragraphs. Type your post into the text editor, don't copy and paste because even notepad formats it and that will often cause a problem when viewing in a browser. Chrome isn't that popular yet, so if you want to see what most people see, you'll need to view it in Internet Explorer or Firefox.

I have realised this too. The same websites look different on different browsers that I use. I am guessing it is because the different browsers have different ways of representing the visualisations in their browsers. But I think it still looks better on some browsers than on others.
