The best "plastic packing containers"

I was wondering if anyone could tell me their preference on the size and shape of the plastic containers they use. I need to get like maybe ten of them so that I can pack some things in that I've recently acquired and so in this way I will know they are safe. However, I am not sure which sizes to use. I do want to use the long thin ones that can fit under a bed as that would be one size that'd be beneficial to me. Another size would be the kind of chunky ones. I need something that I can put Christmas Decor in as well as dishes, comforters, a lot and a lot of clothes, craft stuff, and jewelry. I'm probably missing something as well, oh a microwave would be one other thing. What do you use? I prefer mine to be sturdy stackable as well as I won't have much space to store the stuff in but want it to be in one location so that I know what is what and can easily transport it when the time comes. So does anyone have any suggestions?

I think you've essentially already answered your own question. However one more idea may be to use something like a space bag (or you can do it yourself with a garbage bag, not as perfect still works though). My bins are generally the same size and brand or I try to. As there's nothing like looking for the lid of the oddball bin.

Yeah I think I have kind of answered my own question. I was thinking space bags for some of the clothes and comforters, and I'd probably also utilize the bins, maybe putting some of the clothes I don't wear into space bags and then sealing them up and sucking the air out. I'll be doing a lot of cleaning once I do get the things I need. Rewashing, Ironing, Folding, Stacking, bagging, then into containers they go. A lot of work but it'll pay off in the end.

I get the stackable drawers at Walmart for my walk-in closet. They have all sizes there. Also www.containers.com is one that has all types and sizes. I think for the decor you describe the stackable drawers I use might be good. These ones from Walmart are good and sturdy. Check them out!

You know I had not actually thought about the stackable drawer things but I had seen some at walmart not too long ago. It would be a good idea especially if I could get the rolling kind. When I do move all I'd need to do is duct-tape the drawers and roll it on out. I may save up and get a few, I am sure I could find some place to put them, even if it's in the closet.

I have tended to use anything I could get for free. I used to get laundry soap in big buckets, and kitty litter came in one kind, now it is in another kind. I have some nice barrels that had pool chemicals in them that my dad got for free. I bought quite a few of one size that is not too deep, has built in handles and is fairly long, and I think that would be what I would recommend if I were buying some today. You want to have enough room to hold a number of things without being so large you cannot move things. I was going to suggest the space bags as well.

Hmm those kitty litter tubs and washing powder tubs are a good idea, we don't use those though. I think I know someone who does and so I'll just ask her to keep them for me. I can put a few things in it, but it'd probably be delicats wrapped in between bedding sheets and newspaper that I would be using those the most for. I'm also going to be getting some ornament boxes that someone else suggested, I'll have to look for some that has the size I need. I have my moms home made ornaments, atleast 12 santas I want to keep safe.

That's what I plan to do, though I hope to buy some clear bottomed tote like containers so that I can also see what's in them. I'll put my name and like what it is / what room it would go in so it will be easier when moving.

I think the important thing in packing containers is to decide on one, and to try sticking to it. I know there are a few designs in our local grocery stores, home depot, and walmart. I'm lucky that when I last moved, a friend of mine used to work in a celphone battery company. He gave me a lot of brand new cardboard boxes which their company was using to stack in their warehouses. I am still using the same boxes.

For soft products such as clothes etc, we use vacuum storage bags to make the best of the available space. For everything else we use slim line plastic containers. Those with wheels at one end, so that you can pull them out or push them into awkward spaces- such as under the bed.

Yeah I am going to get space bags, the vacuum sealed baggy things. those will be used for clothes, and I want to get some rolly containers. I've got so much stuff that needs storing it's not even funny!
