Splice(2009)Genetic engineers Clive Nicoli (Adrien Brody) and Elsa Kast (Sarah Polley) hope to achieve fame by successfully splicing together the DNA of different animals to create new hybrid animals for medical use. But the hybrids have ideas of their own. Pretty good movie.
Do you think genetic engineers will be doing this kind of thing in the future? Why would they need to?

It's weird. I wouldn't watch it until you are in the mood for a weird movie.

I'm sure genetic engineers will be trying something similar to what this movie did. Hopefully, they'll only be experimenting with minor things and won't be doing outrageous things like creating that weird creature from Splice.
It's kind of scary to think about though. These engineers can't be certain about what they're creating and any of the potential mutations the creature could go through once it's been created.

That's just it. THey can't be certain. Potential mutations. Ugh!

Exactly!! I think it's really risky to mess around with nature like that. We have no idea what could happen. Like in Splice, the half human thing changed genders and then grew wings and became all wild and evil. I definitely don't want weird things like that flying around

Was this sorta like the idea of the "Dark Angel" TV show that Jessica Alba starred in?

The study of Life,Science and Genetic research has long been a Scifi theme, going back to the Story of Dr.Frankenstein..there's always going to be new twists coming up when research goes in interesting directions!

That was a good one. Yes, it is. Interesting you thought of it.

hi celtic eagle!
i think it is very possible that genetic engineers do this in the future. there's no saying that they haven't tried anything similar yet. we all know how everyone can be so hush hush in government-run laboratories(insert conspiracy theory here)!!! genetic engineering surely has its benefits but it can get awry if done for the wrong reasons.
anyway, going back to the movie, i haven't watched it yet but i'll definitely look it up in imdb. if it looks good, i'll just download it and watch it in my free time.
