My Cable Company has really Screwed Up

I live in Central Texas and my cable provider is Time Warner. Last night, their engineers did a major upgrade to our television service. No customers should have even noticed but things have not gone as planned. Today, I could not access video on demand. I had to call tech support for help. After two attempts to reboot my computer, still no access. It has turned out that everything went well for those with newer cable boxes but persons with older cable boxes now have no access to video on demand. This could mean that thousands of customers can not access video on demand. Time Warner is having to have a technician come to my house. I called today, Thursday, late afternoon. The earliest appointment they can give me is next Wednesday. So i will not be able to access on demand channels for almost a week. I will get credit on my bill. And Time Warner has to pay to have a technician come to my home. And there may be thousands of customers in the same boat. This is going to cost Time Warner some money and maybe some customers. This is bad public relations as well. Anyone else having this kind of problem currently? or have you ever?

I live in a small rural area and very far from the main city. Our cable provider is just accessible here in the nearby market. Everytime that it is raining, we have cable connections problem. It was totally shut down by the provider. We had decided to have our connections in cable now because we seldom watch television nowadays.. We still have local channels though

In small and rural areas in The United States, it is often very difficult to get cable or satellite service. And it can be very expensive. I live in a medium size city and we have a lot of options. I am a senior citizen who lives alone. My services are not just important. They are also a necessity. But good news. Everything has come back up. It is all working. I am watching a very good movie now.

Yikes what a mess. I feel for you. I just moved and had Direct TV for a couple of years. I signed up with the bundle for TimeWarner internet/phone/cable...lol I have yet to learn how to access everything. I can see how you would be frustrated without the on demand TV since you are used to it. I hope the time passes quickly for you and you again have all your channels back.

Good news. Everything is working. I knew the engineers were working on the problem and it all came back up overnight. What a relief. I pay a lot of money for my bundle and I do love what I have. I think that I am still going to get some credit for the inconvenience and hassle for a few days.

I have not had cable in ages and I getg my internet from ATT. I am glad that Time Warner is paying for the problem. This must be hard with you having insomnia as well. It is funny how upgrades often cause trouble.

You are so right on!!!! Among the reasons that I have cable TV with all my premium channels is because of my insomnia. Watching something that I really enjoy when I can not sleep helps ease the difficulty and allows me to relax. Furthermore, sometimes I am homebound because of my insomnia. I sometimes can not go anywhere or do anything when I am unable to sleep. And it helps to be able to enjoy something on TV. I lose myself in it. 5 try to have as little stress in my life in fear that it will set off my insomnia. Any stress at all triggers me. This might work as a trigger but maybe not because I still have access to my premium channels, just not on demand video. And yes, it is amazing how upgrades always seem to cause greater difficulties that have to get worked out. It seems that every time there is some major upgrade, there is also a disaster: sometimes a mini disaster and sometimes a major disaster. I think that this is going to cost Time Warner some money and some customers. This is very bad public relations. And AT&T is drooling. Time Warner and AT&T are forever in competition.

I haven't had cable for a long time because I could never really see the use of it, especially since access to almost anything is in the internet. When we had cable, I remember that was more than 10 years ago, we haven't had problems basically because our T.V. only allowed few channels anyway at that time. I hope this problem gets resolved sooner for you and that the company finds a cheaper and better workaround for this problem.

I hope that it all will get worked out easily. I hope my technician shows up when expected and the problem is easily resolved. I am paying a lot of money for my cable services. For me, this is an inconvenience that should have not happened.
